‘23 VA ATH Cameron Seldon (Tennessee Commit)

Article & video from last fall:

Cameron Seldon is the Indians' jack of all trades — playing both offense and defense — and endlessly working to get better. Every day after football practice, Seldon heads straight to the gym. The team's best player is also their hardest worker.

"Kids really gravitate towards Cam because of the way he conducts himself. His energy is great to be around and his work ethic, like he pointed out, after every practice he's going to the local Y to work out and a lot of kids are following him and doing the same thing," Lewis said. "It makes my job easier when I'm doing something else or helping another kid, it's like having another coach on the field."

"I try to make everyone around me better. Strive to help them do what I did. They always ask me 'How do you do it? You never let anything get into your head.' I just tell them they have to keep working hard and one day, they'll get the same thing I get," Seldon said.

We have been getting a lot from the TE's actually. Just not always receptions. They use them a lot in edge blocking, motion, and route clearing.

It's unfortunate the Nixon kid left. He could have really grown into a good TE here.
I know how they’ve used them. We all do.
I’m talking about in the pass game. That will take it to another level.

That said, because of 7 v 7 success, I think we maybe on the verge of seeing a similar devaluation of WRs due to a flood in the market. It will take a few years to correct, but I believe that’s coming.

I will also say that the Alvin Kamara style RB will see increased revenues coming their way because of previously stated versatility and the options that opens up for coordinators. Will be fun to see because I expect NIL valuations to be very similar to what you see with positional NFL contracts.
Yep things always evolve. We need a true power back. That is one thing Bama and Georgia always have. There is no reason we can’t, we used to always have quality backs in the 80’s and 90’s. Look at the titans, spreading them out and pounding them with Henry. Never devalue a position, all your doing is giving yourself a weakness. You are giving your opponent one less thing to worry about. You need to be able to do it all well in the SEC if you want want to compete to win it all! GBO!

You seem to be close to Cam. How would you say this coaching staff recruits compared to to other schools? Welcome to the board and we all hope Cam selects Tennessee.
Although i haven't been to all of his tours, he calls or text me after each visit. Personally I like Tennessee. Coach Pope and staff were amazing, they welcomed us with open arms. They have a 4 year plan already set for him. Sadly I won't be returning for the final visit next weekend, I really enjoyed the first. I will be attending Penn State visit at the end of this month.

PSU is fine. But just talking ball, Coach Heupel walked in here and in ONE season took us from scoring 22 ppg to 39.

PSU only scored 25 ppg last year and Franklin has been there a long time.

This offense will continue to be one of the top 5 P5 scoring offenses year in and year out, if not #1. Also seems all the players now love being here and playing for this staff. We couldn't say that about the last staff.

It's also not the SEC, so he won't be playing with and against the best players in the country. Oh, and Franklin tries to leave for another job every offseason...

Penn State is a decent program and they will have success. That said there’s no comparison of the offenses. Heupel took a bunch of transfers from other teams that couldn’t get much out of them (Hooker, Velus, Payton, etc) and a two star WR (Tillman)and built one of the most dynamic offenses in the nation. Franklin is a good coach but this team has explosive plays almost every offensive possession and that was with players other teams couldn’t produce with.

Thanks for the reply. That is good news, the players seemed very happy when coach pope got the nod. Well keep us in the loop with y’all’s visit to Pennsylvania.

Appreciate the info. Love to hear what you like about Penn State also after the visit. Always nice to hear what other programs are doing well. Have fun make sure you get back to us this fall for a game day experience.

Penn St. is a sinking ship under Franklin and they just extended him, so he's not going anywhere. He's a great recruiter without question, but he's missed a lot recently on his evaluations. I hope Cam picks the Vols, but wish him success wherever he goes. He seems like a great kid.

He really needs Drew Allar to be good
