‘23 VA ATH Cameron Seldon (Tennessee Commit)

With the NIL stuff, I think the days of flipping commits are going to fade. With the commitment probably comes some contractual agreement with a collective.

I have wondered about this. So if a kid wants to flip, how does that affect the NIl deal? If that’s the case and flips will be less of a thing, then the whole well it’s only March or only August thing is out the window. That makes recruiting more difficult imo.

Yeah, I'd be interested in how the contracts are structured. If a player does sign and then flips, is it a breach where they can be sued? Or does it simply just break the contract and make it void? Very interesting times. Next couple of years are going to be neat.

Guessing each one is different. But yes, a breach is a breach, although most contracts include provisions for justifiable breaches.

Yeah, I'd imagine there is SOME built in accountability, but probably not much. I don't see any collective actually suing a kid for a breach. That would be a very bad look and would probably hurt future deals. I'm no lawyer though, so no idea how that works. I suspect Spyre is just making the best deal they can offer and assuming/hoping the kid sticks and doesn't get a better offer. I would imagine the contracts are very one sided though, favoring the player.

Every high school recruit isn't getting some guaranteed NIL deal. There will still be flips. Plus, unless you reside in certain states, a contractual deal on paper is illegal right now (for high school recruits) if it's tied to a particular school. Unless a program is trying to get messed up with an obvious paper trail, these are mostly verbal agreements right now.

NIL contracts can’t contain language specific to a school. That counts as pay-to-play, which is still illegal.

Very few states actually.

What are you talking about? I'm a vol fan. I've been hurt repeatedly since 2005.
I think I have finally figured out what is different with me. I don’t get hurt because I don’t look at it the same as some. Someone said yesterday they couldn’t have confidence any more. I never have confidence just varying degrees of hope. So if they pick someone else I just move on to the next one although I am disappointed. But some get “hurt” when someone with info leads them to believe that TN will get the commitment. And the bigger the commitment, the bigger the hurt. So that’s why they jump on AV, AP, anyone that tells what they have been told. It’s because they made them feel confident, and they get hurt because of it.
