‘23 VA ATH Cameron Seldon (Tennessee Commit)

Yeah, I'd imagine there is SOME built in accountability, but probably not much. I don't see any collective actually suing a kid for a breach. That would be a very bad look and would probably hurt future deals. I'm no lawyer though, so no idea how that works. I suspect Spyre is just making the best deal they can offer and assuming/hoping the kid sticks and doesn't get a better offer. I would imagine the contracts are very one sided though, favoring the player.
I wouldn’t think they could tie them to a school because that would technically be buying a player. But, of course, if they are at another school they will not reap the benefits from the fans of that school.

I think I have finally figured out what is different with me. I don’t get hurt because I don’t look at it the same as some. Someone said yesterday they couldn’t have confidence any more. I never have confidence just varying degrees of hope. So if they pick someone else I just move on to the next one although I am disappointed. But some get “hurt” when someone with info leads them to believe that TN will get the commitment. And the bigger the commitment, the bigger the hurt. So that’s why they jump on AV, AP, anyone that tells what they have been told. It’s because they made them feel confident, and they get hurt because of it.
Good post. I've been following recruiting since before the internet and recruiting services, so I am used to being patient and watching the twists and turns. Hell, I remember being excited when Countdown to Signing Day first started back in the day.

That’s me. Go way back to just being excited if Tennessee was in the top 5 for a player deciding because that’s really all you knew. So I enjoy when someone says they were told this and it’s good for TN, but realize they could be telling other teams the same thing and can simply change their mind. Now you have to worry for months if they will sign, if they come if they do, and if they will stay if they come. Not going to get too worked up about it anymore. Well, hopefully!

Can't tie a recruit to a school, but can tie a recruit to an area, local business, etc from my understanding. So a kid committed to UT that flipped to say USC would not longer be able to meet contractual obligations, therefore breaching.
I think it's all speculation though. Nobody really knows what's exactly going on except the Collectives and the recruits.

Guessing each one is different. But yes, a breach is a breach, although most contracts include provisions for justifiable breaches.

My guess is the contract is contingent upon him being in the city. If a kid changes his mind, it is difficult to enforce that on the donor side because they really didn't lose out of pocket money, and courts are slow to order specific performance (which means the kid has to attend the original school). Also, for policy reasons, you don't want to be known for suing college kids for changing their mind.
