I judge the defense by our wins and losses.

The goal here is still a Natty right? It should be.

I agree that we’re ahead of schedule and had an amazing 2022 and the staff is doing great and we should have the talent coming in to make those improvements. I don’t think the secondary issues are a reflection of anything really except maybe the talent level of the players.

I was responding to the guy who said we beat Florida so it doesn’t matter if our secondary was bad. Patently not true.

2. kamal Hadden…. Came to Tennessee bc he couldn’t win playing time at Auburn
3. Turnage…. Recruited over at Bama( reports that he was lost in the secondary)
4. Charles…. Athlete recruited for safety that they pushed into corner out of necessity
5. Williams…. Missed all of fall camp so never made rotation
6. Wesley Walker…played 3 years at Ga Tech… starting two years and never made an all ACC team.
7. Doneiko Slaughter…. Not considered an outside corner but performed decent while in there
8. Flowers and McCullough…. We know what everyone thinks about them.
9. turrentine has barely earned playing time at two schools now

That looks like bottom of the sec talent wise that played much better as a unit than their individual parts… what did you expect from that group?

That’s a sobering assessment. I expect to see new faces in the secondary this year and for the unit to be significantly better. Solving the problems at corner will make a huge difference for this team.

Just watched his Sophomore highlights. He has really great timing in pass defense. He must have had 10 pass break ups? He was playing FS the whole season.

Last year was his first season at LB. Just like Spillman.
These two are both going to have big senior seasons year 2 at LB
