'24 VA RB Peyton Lewis (Tennessee)

Lewis led Salem to a 49-13 win over Pulaski County last night, running for 161 yards on just 10 carries including TD jaunts of 17, 30, and 68 yards. Also caught a pass for 24 yards.

Through 7 games, Lewis has rushed 74 times for 752 yards (10.2 YPC) and 11 TDs. He entered last night's game averaging 31.6 yards per KO return and 26.8 yards per punt return.

We usually have pretty good luck with VA prospects (Mayo, Hunter, Coleman Thomas, Darrell Taylor, Seldon). Both of the in-state schools are in shambles and there's no reason we shouldn't be able to get the best VA prospects. Might have to fight off Penn St, UNC, and Clemson, but should be able to beat them out.

The best VA prospects, as is the case in any state, come from the high-population Tidewater area--Hampton, Va. Beach. Suburbs of Richmond have good prospects, also northern Virginia. Salem is in a lower-population area with lesser competition. Prospects from big-school leagues are always a safter bet than smaller school/league prospects, but of course every prospect is different.

It may be me and my orange colored glasses. On 247, Lewis is the 11th ranked RB. Somebody is gonna have to show me some highlights and proof that there are 10 RBs better. I am not saying he is the best RB in the nation. But 11th??? I don’t buy it.
Haven't looked at any other RB recruits other than Hill. Gotta say Hill looks more explosive and quicker. Think he's far bigger, too. Would be happy with either, but if I could choose, I think I'd lean toward Hill. Looks like he's bama bound though.

Lewis runs a 10.5 100m Hill is not faster.

If you think hill is faster and quicker than I don’t know what to say

I said Hill looks more explosive and quicker. Faster isn't mentioned in my post. I'm not privy to 40 or 100 times. I'm going based on video at hudl. Just an opinion based on that observation. Reading..it's fundamental as the saying goes.

If you “haven’t looked at any other RB recruits other than Hill”, then how can you compare Hill to anyone (positively or negatively)?

You must have not really watched Lewis film if you think Hill is more explosive and quicker. He isn’t.

Well... because I'm comparing him to Lewis...our recruit and the subject of this thread? To break it down even further...I'm comparing Hill and Lewis on their hudl videos...my observations and opinion...on quickness and explosion...on the field....no idea of their respective 40 or 100 times. Sorry, this is as plainly and as slowly as I can say it.

You specifically said, you “haven’t looked at any other RB recruits other than Hill”. So, apparently that wasn’t true.

But when I said "Hill looked quicker and more explosive" it had to be in comparison to someone, no? And we are in the Peyton Lewis thread. And these are really the only 2 RB that are realistic signees. Kinda silly to be arguing about something like this, but I won't mind if we get both but if we only get one, I think I'd rather have Hill.

Lewis ran for 123 yards and 2 TDs (11 & 45 yards) on 14 carries last night as Salem pummeled Christiansburg, 49-10.

Last week, Lewis led Salem to a 51-3 destruction of Cave Spring, rushing for 194 yards and 4 TDs on just 10 carries. He also returned a punt 65 yards for a TD and even had a sack on defense.

Rushing stats through 9 games: 98 carries for 1,069 yards (10.9 YPC) & 17 TDs.

I’m perfectly fine if Lewis ends up being the only RB in this class. I think he’s the best high school RB recruit we’ve landed in a long time.

Cam Seldon is from the same state and was actually rated higher coming out.
I know. But a) Seldon was seen as more of an Athlete than strictly RB and b) I think Lewis is better coming out of HS. My statement wasn't that he was the highest rated. It was just what I think.

Good summary. Just think Ronald Curry, Michael Vick, and Percy Harvin. All from these areas. Closer to home, CJ Fayton, Justin Hunter and Brent Vinson.
