The only positions I see being worth a bidding war, Oline, DLine. after that then you can start thinking about bidding high for the skill Positions .The other factors matter when the money is close. However, if someone decides to massively overpay they can land just about any recruit. Just like how you can land any free agent in professional sports if you decide to massively overpay.

If you avoid bidding wars, your trenches are going to be awful and you will have poor QB play. If you want that... but you are right, you ABSOLUTELY do have to pick your spots. Nobody has unlimited money, even the ones everyone thinks that do. You have to have a plan and execute it while picking your spotsNo position is worth a bidding war. Even QB. Everything is about value unless you have unlimited funds. Sometimes it's better to sign three 4-star lineman for the price of one allegedly elite 5-star lineman. This new era is gonna make evaluating players even more important. Cause back in the day you could load up on 5-stars without a care in the world. But now you gotta pick n choose which 5-stars are worth paying top dollar and which ones are overrated and not worth getting into a bidding war over.
I think so too but I’m not a fan of it. Getting a top tier RB means the linebackers have to play sound defense. They cant just rush or drop back into coverage. You can do that if you guess wrong and the RB picks up 6 yards. You can’t if they are able to take it to the house on every touch. My personal opinion is that UT does not value the position
as important as some other schools and we will not be putting ourselves
in a bidding war. Vols seem to play the rb position as a committee approach.

2nd round has turned into players who are either raw or have a deficiency at something but are solid enough to take after round 1. Personally wouldn't be hoping all 3 hit to equal the value of getting some of the best players in the nation. I'd rather have a Ryan Wingo than anyone in Tennessee's WR room. He would've been WR1 and given the team a true playmaking threat. I'd rather have Jordan Seaton or Francis Mauigoa blocking for my multi-million dollar QB. I would've loved to have seen Sammy Brown or CJ Allen play the middle of the field in that Ohio State game. I would've loved to have a DL ready to replace Tyler Baron that could win 1v1s all over the DL like TJ Parker. Or you can just keep settling for a handful of those second-tier guys like you suggested and keep losing everytime you play someone who invests into landing big-time players and coaches them up..Give me 3 second round picks in a draft over a single top 10 pick. I'm not saying we shouldn't chase good players. I'm saying sometimes it's better to take the money that would have gone to 1 possibly overrated 5-star and instead spending that money on 3 four star players.
I think we should set a hard line cap on how much we'll pay most highly rated prospects. If someone wants to swoop in at the last minute and overpay let them and use that money to get other players. Every now and then if a player is exceptional like Faizon Brandon I would go all-in but that should be the exception not the rule.
That’s all good until you play Osu and the other national title contenders and they just outclass your 4 star lineman. You choose your battles, but certain players and positions you pay up.No position is worth a bidding war. Even QB. Everything is about value unless you have unlimited funds.
