Vaccine or not?

Just asking questions, doc.

You speak as somewhat of an authority on Covid and infectious diseases, yet you are a pediatrician. It's akin to me being a structural engineer and pretending to know the details of another in a different field of engineering. I may know a few fancy engineering terms, but I wouldn't dare pretend to be an authority figure on it...especially if I'm downplaying any particular risks associated with the other field.
That is a pretty poor analogy.

You have some scientists and engineers that work in the labs and have zero field experience. These are the people that give you textbook info. Then here are those engineers that actually have boots on the ground and are making this stuff work everyday in the field.

So who are you going to trust, a field guy that does this stuff everyday in the real world or a laboratory guy who works on things in a controlled environment?

Here's something to ponder:

WHAT IF...

Last year, rather than locking down the country, shuttering children in their homes, cancelling sports, closing restaurants, parks, and playgrounds, . . . we had taken strict precautions to isolate the elderly and those at-risk due to comorbid conditions, and everyone else just went on with daily life.

Where would we be today?

Would there be a Delta variant in the U.S.?

Would our kids have lost a year of quality education?

Would there have been this many suicides?

Would mental health facilities be completely full and unable to take new patients?

All good questions. IMO we would be on the other side of this by now.

And more people would be buring their loved ones
How would you know this?

It was then, or now. People have to gain immunity, and it's looking like natural immunity may be the only real solution.

Think about this: if we had protected those "loved ones" then, while the healthy population was allowed to develop naturally-acquired immunity, we might actually have fewer overall deaths. There's a very good damn chance that the lockdown had the exact OPPOSITE effect of what you think it did.

He never suggested for people to ingest a disinfectant orally. Ingesting a disinfectant orally without confirmation with a medical professional prescribing it and data showing its use in the proper form (that's not some home remedy or product) can kill someone. Only a moron would do something like that. Only a moron would believe that that was the suggestion. I point to you as that proof. You keep thinking you have a gotcha moment but it just reenforces your inability to process mentally. It's honestly not that hard either.

Just stop... he knows good and well Trump didn't say that.

73,000,000 age<18 in US
4,105,802 positive cases since 3/2020 (5%)
501 deaths (0.01% of cases, 0.0007% of <18 population)

No one is arguing that death isn’t tragic. The argument is to do an honest, accurate risk assessment for this particular diseases in this population.

From April 2009-October 2009, H1N1 had killed over 1000 kids under 18. They stopped routine testing for it in July 2009. There were no school mask mandates or lockdowns. Yet it killed twice as many kids in 1/3 the amount of time.

In other words......just go ahead and do a A"Thinning of the heard" and don't worry about it
You need to take that issue up with whoever created the virus. This unnatural virus was going to thin the herd no matter what measures we took, unfortunately.

You need to direct your anger towards the people that created this situation. Wuhan Lab? Fauci? Both?

Also, bear in mind, 40-50% of reported COVID cases in hospitalized children are discovered incidentally, after admission for another problem, surgical procedure, etc. So, the actual mortality FROM COVID is even lower.

I am not angry, I am just commenting like everyone else thank you very much

So as long as there is junk food available and people over eating and people smoking then don't worry about Covid......Are You serious.....
COVID has been here for 2 years and will eventually wind itself down to where it is a normal flu virus that we have floating around every year.

Those other lifestyle issues that kill the same number of people as COVID each year have been here for decades and will be here for many years to come.

But the media wants you to panic on COVID because it is the hot topic of the day.

Which is what many of us have been saying since last summer.

The one thing I didn't foresee was the opportunistic development and spread of a variant with mutated spike protein. This actually makes the case for a goal of early naturally-acquired immunity even stronger.

Mixed feelings about that statement.

If we let real science and common sense rule the day, then I think you are correct.

But with the people that we have in charge right now and the media as their apparatchiks, I'm not sure we wouldn't be in the exact same position right now.

All we did was delay the inevitable. Virus is gonna virus.

Apparently I am supposed to be panicking over junk food and smoking and obesity

Good thing that we just didn't sit back and act like that over smallpox or polio
Totally different situations. Polio and small pox were far, far more dangerous, and we had at least 100+ years of experience with the small pox vaccine and over 2 decades of research that went into polio.

I wouldn't panic at all.

But, if you are concerned about saving lives, you would have better luck addressing those 3 items rather than COVID.
Well if I had your mind set, if I got bit by a stray dog, I would just say oh well Virus is gonna virus......or if I stepped on a rusty
nail.......Virus is gonna virus................that is ridiculous
