As a parent myself, it isn’t an easy decision but we are not vaccinating our children. Their risks from covid are much lower and the have many decades left in which to exhibit presently unforeseen side effects. Whereas I on the other hand, am at a much higher risk from covid and am „well past halftime“ on life exepectancy as it were. If any variant starts really endangering kids though the caucus would changethere you go…
But I do agree. I wish there was someone who would actually address people’s concerns with vaccination without resorting to shame and name calling.
Kids are obviously a touchy issue. We ALL want the best for them. There are some inconsistencies in how the US is approaching this disease in kids. The CDC is recommending masking and vaccines in youth at ages much younger than many other nations and what even the WHO recommends. And this is contrast against 18 months of data that show serious illness and death from Covid in patients under 18 is similar or lower than other respiratory illnesses.
So, it would be nice to have a discussion about these inconsistencies without being heckled and shamed with appeals to emotion.
Why does it matter? It’s not looking like they’re going to let me visit in March.
COVID: Only people jabbed in Israel are to be exempt from quarantine

Have you heard of Thalidomide? It was prescribed for over a decade to treat nausea in pregnant women. Many many years later, scientists figured out that it caused birth defects. With young and still developing lives, statistically significant effects aren’t always seen right away. And this vaccine was rushed through MUCH faster than anything else in history. I will not play Russian Roulette with my kids‘ development when weighed against the low risk (to them) of the current variants of covid. Older Adults on the other hand have much higher risk of death from covid and have long since ceased active growth (except in the waistlineWTF you scared of?

So for me, the calculus is different. sorry about the dark font. Copy and paste went cray cray
What exactly does the vaccine do?

Small pox and polio had years of research behind them.
https://www.kansascity.com/opinion/opn-columns-blogs/dave-helling/article253422239.htmlYou obviously aren't able to understand, and I don't have the energy to keep this up. You might say I have a case of "COVID burnout" after all the useless experience I am gaining taking care of patients all day.
I’m not questioning your decision but Wikipedia cites to an article written by Marilyn Miller, M.D., which says Thalidomide was first available in Europe in 1957, the defect issue was discovered and it was removed from the European market in 1961, the FDA refused to approve it in the US, and it wasn’t approved for medical use here until 1998.Have you heard of Thalidomide? Right.....but the whole point is to use the appropriate treatment that is availableBacteria, not virus...
But anyways, with differing situations, you take the appropriate actions. The measures taken for this virus have proven to be extreme and mostly ineffective. I am willing to give Fauci and the guys a big Mulligan last year for the "2 weeks to flatten the curve" even though I knew that wasn't going to do anything. The only reason why I cut them slack for that is because I genuinely think that they were concerned that they may have a serious biological weapon on their hands. But once the data came out and showed that this had an over 99% survival rate (I remember at the time there were rumors of it being only 90-95%), they should have walked everything back. But no, instead, they got more ridiculous and got more Draconian with their expansion of powers.
