I’m a general contractor. I’m licensed to do just about anything.
I normally sub the asbestos out because it’s such a pain in the ass but the subs I trust could not get too it so I had to suit myself and my guys up and sweat my ass off.

It’s hot in those damn suits.

My dad was a sheet metal and asbestos worker for 30 years. That’s why I asked.

Mold remediation is a racket. Most of the time guys in that line of work lie about the problem a homeowner may have and then bill them for 10s of thousands of work that might not have needed to be done. I have a pretty solid client base of the same customers. If needed I could do the work but it’s a real pain in the ass with no real oversight to speak of.

If you have a mold problem test it with 3 separate test kits and send them off under different names.

Finally... something we agree on. I sold my house in Utah (2nd driest state in the union) and the new owners wanted a mold inspection. In retrospect, I should have shown them the door. A few thousand dollars later the guys came in in moon suits and sprayed the dead mold with bleach. Hell I could have done that. Yeah, it is a scam. When I sell my place here in Florida I will laugh in anyone's face that suggests one.

And here’s the stupidity there.
Bleach does not kill mold spores. It kills mold but again not the spores. Bleach is 80% water. So while bleach appears to solve the problem all it actually does is insure the molds survival. The chemicals that will actually kill mold spores are expensive and not available at Walmart.

the actual scary black mold is very very very very rare.

Mixing mud comes to mind. I used to watch people mix it maskless and wonder how much of the particulate stayed in their lungs.

I’ve stayed away from the tin hat theory land ….but….this thing doesn’t act like other viruses. It’s reinfections on people who have had both it and the vaccine are off the charts compared to other viruses. The loss of natural immunity so quickly (confirmed in multiple studies) just isn’t natural and should not be happening. In addition to that it doesn’t exist in the animal kingdom. We have not been able to locate it in any animals…..at all. It has jumped from humans to apes in zoos but other than that there’s nothing. Accidental release is still plausible but this thing is definitely man made and is possibly and early stage bio weapon.

it is what it is. And it’s not like anything else we deal with.
