Well. Let's put this in another perspective. People have been saying these are unskilled, low skilled jobs etc. They are anything far from it. Sure there are teenagers that work some of these jobs but that might make up a small percentage, if any, of the staff. Most of the staff in these restaurants are adults. Many of them have families just like people in any other profession. So when they hear other people online saying and assuming that the job their working is low skilled, unskilled, it's not a job that someone should make as a career. Then is it really a surprise that many of these people quit or move on to another profession that pays more money?
Then there is the rudeness and outright disrespect that people in general have for restaurant workers in particular. I don't know why it's that way but it is. It's gotten worse during the pandemic.
Many of these restaurants should have been paying their employees more money over the years. Especially the ones who were actually good at their job and willing to stay. And trust me these restaurants could have paid more money over the years. Chik Fil A and other restaurants started doing it and you really don't see them closing early or being as short staffed as other restaurants.
I think as a society people need to start showing more respect for people working in the service industry. I know a lot of people do respect them but most people don't. For whatever reason it's looked down upon.
