I also don't enjoy the judged events as much as timed events.

I was freaking out watching the speed skating...and when the guy from USA sat in last forever then dominated with three laps left was GREAT!

That Nordic Combined crap has to suck and they look like chickens when climbing.

American nipped at the end by a corholing surrenderist. Oh well, first medal ever.

that luger didn't die tragically, dying on a tricycle is tragic, dying on a 90mph track on a sled in a competition that you apparently were not even remotely skilled to compete in seems relatively normal.

but don't blame me, blame wile e. coyote for desensitizing me to people dying in super weird ways that have nothing to do with what they're trying to do just to get some laughs.

Normal, Why don't you tell that to his family. See how they feel. If you are an OLYMPIC ATHLETE, and are competing on the World Cup, you are qualified to run that course.

Don't even act like you care about what happened to him. You had zero connections with him and you know nothing of his life.

I have to know someone to consider it a sad event? He didn't die because he wrecked, he died because of the lack of a wall at the end of that turn. And if he wasn't qualified, he wouldn't have been there. Dale Sr wasn't qualified for his sport either was he?

But as a human being (which I think you might be), I feel upset for his family, and am not going to make ridiculous comments during an upsetting time for the sport of luge.

I thought the young Japanese skater should have gotten some extra points for skating to Jimi Hendrix, figure skating judges are obviously not rockers.

indeed, can't stand it. it needs its own channel so all of the old ladies can watch it and all of the other people can watch more interesting sports in primetime. put it on cnbc or something other than the main nbc slot. or just air all of it at 5 or 6 am when all of the main ice skating fans are available for viewing. just throwing it out there.

That was my suggestion to a buddy of mine. Have the figure skating during the lunch time/soap opera hours.

seems like a logical idea to me. i don't think i am going too far out on a limb in saying that most of the figure skating fan base is old women. all of the figure skating does not have to be live.
