Vanderbilt assistant responds angrily

Louisville can only play who's in front of them. It's not Louisville's fault that their schedule isn't as difficult as Alabama's, nor is it unfair.

Then poor UL. Because SOS matters. An undefeated team that has played a bunch of nobodies does not deserve a shot before a team that has run the gauntlet and lost to a team that is better than anyone UL has beaten. All that means is that there are two people that deserve it ahead of UL.

I promise you that Louisville is excited about the prospect of playing a more difficult schedule as a member of a better conference.

I promise you, a better conference is licking their chops at the thought of UL being a repeating game on their schedule.

actually it is unfair if it keeps a more deserving team from getting a legit shot at a NC

deserving teams don't sit around before the season hoping others lose so they can get a shot

Especially considering what brutal schedules do to depth.

By that logic, we should just have the #1 and #2 SOS teams play for it all. Sure, they didn't win all of their games... but it's not their fault! They had a rough schedule! The other teams may not have won 12 games with that schedule!

Also, let's say the winner of the Big 12 goes undefeated... they're deserving by virtue of winning all their games, but also probably have to hope that the teams ranked ahead of them fall. Everyone but Ohio State and Alabama needs a little help to play for it all.

A team that has averaged 5 years at .500, plus last year. You are guaranteeing yourself an unbeaten season and trip to the MNC game...

Clearly I'm not the only one predicting an undefeated season if, you know, Louisville will be favored in all 12 games.

So, the last three seasons, did Tennessee just have no desire to win seven of their games?

Florida thought they were going to be playing for a national title. Instead, ESPN put the moldy domers in the title game. They were not motivated to play UL and it showed. I say again play them in September. I can't believe you have me defending Florida.

Tennessee has been trying to win but due to all the mess on the Hill the last few years, they just aren't a very good team. Hopefully, things are changing for the better.

Florida Louisville and the Tennessee situation are like comparing apples and oranges.

No, it's not.

Not to me

Again, we're not talking about the SEC champions going undefeated in the Big East. We're talking about a Big East team going undefeated in the Big East.

It's impressive because, wait for it, they play in the same conference. I'm pretty sure everyone expects a team with a 100,000 seat stadium and SEC media exposure/recruiting bases/finances to beat up on schools in a "lowly" conference.

It's when a team in said "lowly" conference manages to be good enough to beat everyone laid out in front of them that it becomes impressive.

Is the end of that sentence

Crappy teams beating up on crappy teams is never impressive. I'll have whatever the hell you're smoking.

Louisville's not a crappy team, though. I mean, really, do you actually think that Tennessee would beat Louisville this season?

Louisville has, somehow, managed to be something entirely the opposite of a "crappy team" despite their presence in a "crappy conference." It's quite astonishing, really.

I, along with a majority of the country outside the 502 area code, won't be the least damn impressed if you go undefeated.

This thread has gone off the rails, but I'm pretty sure CBJ's comments were in regards to Cincinnati and Central Michigan--NOT Vandy.

The original article is behind a paywall, but to summarize, he was disappointed by a 26k turnout for the Cincy vs Syracuse game last year, which he stated in a postgame interview.

I believe that Butch's intent was even more innocuous. If one looks at this list of FBS stadiums (List of NCAA Division I FBS football stadiums - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), one will find that the majority of them, roughly 75, have OFFICIAL seating capacities of less than 60,000. Butch was simply praising the Big Orange Nation for turning out in such numbers for our spring game. There are no legitimate grounds for the Commode coach to assume that Butch was lobbing a round over their little black and gold bow.

Yes. Yes they would.

The Great Danes don't get impressed when a cocker spaniel spanks a toy poodle.

"Yap, yap" -- UL.

Then you're not very well informed about college athletics.

Oh, I'm quite informed. I know that UT has a lot of talent. Their major problem was coaching. To go along with their talent, they now have the coaching staff that beat UL 2/3 times, and played the third time into overtime with less/equivalent talent.

Uninformed per college athletics is the person that thinks a Big East UL team has ANY shot at winning it all this season.

I used to actually like UL, as far as Big East cocker spaniels go. Now, I will enjoy watching them get their hearts ripped out. I will be hoping they actually do move to the ACC so you are forced into the reality of what a paper cardinal they are when a decent conference starts shredding them year in and year out.
