Thanks for the "news flash." What is the memory span of people on this forum? 15 minutes?
My point is that teams like Vandy, Northwestern, etc. tend to cycle. NW has had 6 winning seasons in the last 15 years. When all the planets align they have spurts of winning but there's just too much going against them to have a traditionally strong program.
The VU coach will almost certainly go somewhere else if he contines to win. He will be sought after by plenty. If he doesn't, good for him.
BTW, yesterday was NW's first bowl winning since 1949. If a bowl win very 60+ years doesn't say perennial powerhouse, I don't know what does.
My point is that programs like UT cycle as well. Everyone on these boards seems to get hateful and unrealistic when we are in a down cycle (which we most definitely are at the moment) and expect it to end just because we fans want it to - it just does not work like that. In the meantime, I do not think it helps at all that we (collectively) shower hate or negativity on other programs or on kids that decide to study and play elsewhere. Those kids are entitled to the same respect as the ones that decide to come to Knoxville. I love it whenever schools that excel academically (such as Northwestern, Stanford and yes, Vandy) compete well in athletics.
