Thought that would never come out of my mouth but Vandy and MTSU have better records and as far as coaches yet to be determined.:whistling:

Vandies schedule has been light years weaker than UTs. Just saying. We beat SC. They beat a very depleted UGA courtesy of the Vols. We lost at the swamp because we had 6 turnovers. They won at the swamp because they got 4 turnovers against a UF team that has flat out quit. Both of us steam rolled by Missouri. They haven't played Bamer nor Oregon. Its not really apples to apples.

That said, they are probably slightly better than we are. Mostly because of Bobby Johnson's kids.

Vandy is probably slightly favored or even game - but that does show how we have fallen, sure - but the proof of how we are growing will be in what we do in the game. From what I see, we are getting better - Vandy will not be a pushover but I think we will do what it takes to win.

to be fair, Gus recruited most of the players on Auburn when he was the OC there and they still had players that won a national championship, so they were in a bit better shape player wise than we were.

Same team was 3-9 last year

I don't know if some posters on here really believe what they write, or are just trying to agitate.

Their logic: Gus has a better record that Butch in his first year so Gus is a much better coach.

Of course (in their reasoning), the talent pool has absolutely nothing to do with it. By this same reasoning, poor ole Nick Saban is a terrible coach because he was 6 - 6 during his first year at 'Bama and lost to Louisana Monroe. Nick also played a much weaker schedule than Butch faced this year...but of course SOS has nothing to do with it either.

What a simple world they must live in.

I love the Blue Raiders, but you can't seriously think Rick Stockstill is a better coach than Butch Jones.

they didnt play at oregon, at bama, or against auburn either.they would have gotten drilled by 30+ just like us in every one of them.they are like UT when it comes to defending a mobile qb. mariota and marshall would have done the same to them. theyre improved but they arent the team many of you are saying. i think they were significantly better last yr. ive seen them play several times this yr. i wish we could have played the florida team they played.
