J Williams is a starter as is Saulsberry if he returns from his injury as projected. Coleman is a starter at either NB or CB. McNeil is a returning starter and in spite of all the chatter... he's a starter until someone takes it away from him.
The only "unknowns" on O as far as starters right now are TE and LT. I know Jones wants to keep the competition high and people just love to speculate about the QB position. However except for when he was injured and Jones' very brief flirtation with Peterman, Worley has been the starter since Bray left. It is very doubtful that changes unless he is completely ineffective once games start or else he gets hurt.
Six to 8 wins is the reasonable range for this team against this schedule if Jones is a coach capable of coaching UT to championships. Five would mean a second straight year of underachieving AND losing to at least one team with less talent. Four wins will and very much should put Jones on a very hot seat with a one year "prove it" probation period.
Talent wise barring major injuries, UT should beat Mizzou. If UT loses that game without having suffered critical injuries then it will mean that Pinkel outcoached Jones badly- not a good sign.
We haven't even named a starting QB yet.
A good portion of our talent isn't even on campus yet.
Lines are going to move like crazy over the next 3 months. Everyone chill.
I think the game behind the losses this year is just as important, if not more, than the wins.
If we go 6-6 but get absolutely blown out in most of our 6 losses... no bueno.
If we go 5-7 but win 5 convincingly and lose 7 in very close fashion... I think that would be better leverage for coaches in the way you iterated.
We have to prove we're close to competing. That's why the win-loss doesn't mean much to me this year... it's how we got to each win and loss that matters.
Overall 8-4
SEC 5-3
Win - Utah State
Win - Arkansas State
Loss - Oklahoma
Loss - Georgia
Win - Florida
Win - Chattanooga
Win - Ole Miss
Loss - Alabama
Loss - USCe
Win - Kentucy
Win - Missouri
Win - Vanderbilt
It could happen. At Ole Miss and vs. UF look like the tough ones you have listed as W's. I do not expect Mizzou to be that good this year. Year three will be just enough for those Tigers to see just wth they got themselves into. They rode a perfect storm last year, gonna be hell to pay for them this year.
What was there over/under for Auburn last year? Its easy to be accurate for teams with stability but very hard with new coaches and new players on the field. Jmo
