That's not what he said. He made a rational point. You answered with an attempt to turn it into a personal argument.
Those who committed to UT early did in fact recruit for UT. That was a vital component to UT's class and will be going forward.
We will see if he can do it and the second part is true. But that second part will likely work against what you apparently want to believe if the promises of "being part of building something special" don't turn into more than 5 wins again in '14.
Players want to play for coaches that win. It will be much too easy to paint Jones as a blowhard that can't actually win football games if he has another losing season this fall. You and I may not like it. It might not even be "fair"... but negative recruiters don't care about "fair". They care about signing the best players and keeping them from the competition.
We haven't even named a starting QB yet.
A good portion of our talent isn't even on campus yet.
Lines are going to move like crazy over the next 3 months. Everyone chill.
Not like losing to a fcs school or directional school. They were horrible but that was the week Fulmer was fired. People forget that....
I would have to take the over. I think we end up 7-5. Barring any injuries at key positions. Worst case 5-7. Best case 8-4.

everyone continues to state a caveat of if we don't have injuries. Injuries happen every year and every team has them. that is the point of so many stating the record is going to end up in the 5 range. The depth and inexperience can't sustain the injuries that will happen.
Georgia, Florida, LSU, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee all had QBs go down last year for games. That is what the SEC is about. Depth and experience with that depth are required to have success IMO
We are going to lose key people. We need people to step up and replace them as the season plays out. Butch knows and understands this. It is why he has been talking patience for this season.
Bwa, ha, ha... patience? From SEC fans? from Tennessee fans? Surely you jest.
At any rate, LWS, what's your prediction this year? I believe you were spot on last year with 5 and 7.
I am going with 5 and 7 again.
Really? Expecting 6 wins is "ungodly, unrealistic expectations"? Since when? As soon as there is a hiccup? I'd say there have already been quite a few "hiccups" in the coaching performance of this staff though folks like you close your eyes to them. Four losses in a single season by 28 or more points qualifies. The second worst ppg allowed in at least 50 years qualifies. The loss to Vandy qualifies. The start of Peterman vs UF qualifies.Like it or not, you are exactly the kind of fan that the talking heads have warned us about. The fan with ungodly, unrealistic expectations that will come unhinged as soon as their is a hiccup.
No. It is EXPECTING Jones to demonstrate he's a championship caliber coach. Coaches who succeed typically DO NOT take very long to start showing significant progress ON THE FIELD. I am unsure how you can keep evading that FACT as if it did not exist. The only time you address it at all is when you pull out anomalies. There are eleven losable games on the schedule. It's not likely, but if we have a bad game, the vols could lose to Utah state or Arkansas state. If they rebound, the younger players develop, and we are playing competitive football and getting better, it's not that big of a real. Year three is where wins and losses will matter more, but you expecting 10 or 11 wins in year three just illustrates your impatience.
This program needs stability more than anything. Please don't be one of those complaining fans if things don't go to suit you.:good!:
Personally I don't really care. If the team plays hard and doesn't give up I will be happy to watch them-record be damned.
I really don't. The team is young an thin in critical spots. But they don't have to compete for the East to win 6 or 7 games and show good progress. But according to some here, that's just asking way too much.
I was just being sarcastic to Counts post, I really don't think we win the East. I will say that I'll be highly disappointed if we don't make it to a bowl. Some wanna talk about the OL and DL being so bad that we're be lucky to win 5 games and I just don't see it that way. Last year should have been a 7 win team. I think we actually have a better shot this year at 7 considering where Vandy and Mizzou are. Why people are expecting losses to those two is beyond me, they're gonna drop off significantly.
Hey guys....those are from our site and were put up by former bookmaker Chris Andrews. There are no totals yet available in Vegas but I can guarantee you that when they do come out they will be VERY close to those and many bookmakers will be using them as a guide. Our over/under totals were featured on College Football Live the other day as well. Thanks for the discussion around them though!
