Russia has the upper hand in this. As long as they’ve got troops and military aircraft in the country, we can’t do much without risking international conflict.

As much as I disagree generally with involving the military, it doesn't say much about us if we stand by and watch countries from a different hemisphere dictate what happens in our own neighborhood. It seems absolutely incongruent to become involved in the Middle East to defend ourselves from terrorism or maybe it's to protect innocents (hard to tell the rationale these days) while ignoring an enemy camp within real striking distance. And the last I heard the Russians were the enemy ... at least that's what Mueller et al have been investigating.

I wouldn’t be shocked if we had some MQ-9’s on station for precision strikes and some HARMs lined up for CnC degradation. We might have some fighters to insure no air assets from Maduro come into play. But no I’d doubt we have any boots on the ground unless it’s Delta or Seal Team on specific precision targets.
