China sent troops as well. Unfortunately, I don’t think the opposition will stand a chance at this point with China and Russia being involved.

Fair enough but what right do we (or any other nation) have, as a foreign power, to intervene and declare someone else the rightful ruler ? I'm not defending Maduro at all. I'm just asking what authority we have to decide another country's process like this?

It's a huge gamble on Guaido's part. I would think he got at least a prior nod of approval from outside, but who can say how much assistance is being given?

Russia has the upper hand in this. As long as they’ve got troops and military aircraft in the country, we can’t do much without risking international conflict.

There's been hints at it for awhile. One assumes we have planned for this and are prepared to act, if Trump orders it. But for sure he's got isolationists screaming in one ear, and neocons in the other.

I'm sure it's been planned but I don't see us getting directly involved unless some major killing occurs of the citizens. The Maduro folks just ran over civilians with their armored vehicles intentionally. At what point does the US need to get involved? Serious question. I have no idea.
