Vick & dog fighting?

Well, at least now I know not to bother to turn on sports radio here in Atlanta tomorrow. Thanks for the heads-up.

What has been the reaction (after these Vick developments) on the Matt Shaub trade in Atlanta?

I honestly don't think there are too many people who think that MAtt Schaub was some kind of Joe Montana in hiding. They signed Joey Harrington, so it's not like there's nobody with any experience backing up Vick.

I don't know; it seems like a bunch of guys I talk to are all convinced that it's a Brett Favre situation all over again. Of course, those are the same guys who wanted Vick dumped immediately even though it would destroy the Falcons' salary cap situation.

I'd say most reasonable fans think that the Schaub trade was a good one; they took an asset of unknown quality that seemed to be way overvalued and turned it into some useful draft picks, which they then used to address some real needs. The very small chance that a backup QB who's never won a start will turn into Favre II seems a small risk for a couple of starters who can almost certainly help your team.

Supposedly the DA, Invesitgators and the State Attorney General are meeting on Monday.

I sure am glad the Falcons dumped Schaub

I heard that D.J. Shockley looked better than Harrington in minicamp. I don't know whether that means that Shockley looked good, or that Harrington merely looked awful.

You don't need Harrington's kind of experience.

The tossing the ball quickly in the air in order to cover his head before absorbing multiple hits from a horde of defenders? Not that i think he'd be any good WITH protection.......

During his 18-year coaching career at California, Oregon (1998-2001), Fresno State (1992-97) and the CFL's Calgary Stampeders (1989-91), Tedford devised record-setting offenses at every stop. Under his tutelage, such quarterbacks as Trent Dilfer, Akili Smith, Joey Harrington, David Carr, Kyle Boller and Aaron Rodgers blossomed into first-round NFL draft picks.

As a Packers fan, we'd be just as well dusting off Bart Starr as we would letting Rodgers be the man...i was hoping like hell Drew Stanton would be there for our 2nd pick.

My favorite quote from Vick was last night when he was asked if he would be exonerated. Now if you were innocent you would say "of course" or "yes". Michael Vick's gem " (pause) man.......no comment"

I saw that too. I seriously think he doesn't know what the word meant. Vick is an idiot through and through.

One of those old axioms..."You can take the boy from the country, but you can't take the country from the boy"

Apply this to Vick, though 'Country' isn't the word

things look bad for Vick right now, but it's only a matter of time before Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton organize rent a mobs to protest Vick's persecution as "racism". Once that happens, the NFL will blink, suspend Vick for a couple of games and not think twice about the double standard they just set.

Anybody see the ESPN special report.

It was horrible, thay actually showed footage of dog fights. They should have left the fighting footage out of the story it was disguisting..

The informant was in shadows and implicated Vick as a being involved

This whole case has been strange from the start. I think Vick is a complete idiot, but I wonder if they are going to be able to find enough credible evidence to go after him. It's not like the world of dog fighting is full of a lot of people with much credibility in the first place.

It's reported that 3 dozen dog carcasses have been exumed on Vick's property in Virginia.

profootballtalk.com, espn radio.

NFL teams should do like the Raiders did with JR. Assign a PI to their premier draft prospects and see what they can find out. Theres too much money at stake not to.
