do you even know anything about his contract? i'm guessing not

I know he can get cut right now...but if we trade for him, he's not getting cut and we would owe him the balance of that 70 mil, genius. He's nowhere CLOSE to being worth that kind of money.

Please NO! Cam Newton = Vince Young 2.0

As I have thought about the situation and possibilities I have come to this same conclusion. I think Newton is very much like Young in many respects.

read up on NFL contracts, genius. they're only guaranteed year to year - not over the entire length of the contract.

He's a slower VY with probably a better attitude. More likely to reach his potential I guess, but I doubt we go that route. He's like a VY-Tebow cross...

If we trade for him we owe him way more than he's worth...period...that extension isn't voided just because he switches teams...

And is he something Adams would want as a replacement for VY?

The way I see it the Titans front office made a very good case for why Vince was not the qb the Titans needed going forward. I honestly believe that Adams was going on his perception of Vince being a rising super star in the league. Part of this faulty view was based on Adam's proximity to Texas and Longhorn football where he is legend. Adam's didn't realize outside of that state Vince is seen as a mediocre at best qb.

Cam is a risk IMO because he was propelled to star status overnight, while he has all the physical tools we haven't seen him develop. We don't know if he is willing to do the things Vince wasn't, there are many more tools a qb needs in his bag to be very good or great that neither Vince nor Cam have right now. Very good reason to steer clear of Cam IMO.

I think he's actually a better passer than Tebow. The problem I see with many dual threat qb's like Cam and Vince are that they are so used to getting by on athletic ability they are resistant to being coached to do the things that make will make them top tier NFL qb's.

I think Cam Newton is closer to Ben Roethlisberger than Vince Young.

I assume you mean coming out of college?

The big difference here in Cam and Ben are that we actually saw Ben develop in college and had a better assumption on the way he projected to develop in the NFL based on that.

They aren't comparable at all.

Ben's a statue with a huge arm and he's pretty accurate.

Newton has a big arm but he's inaccurate with it and he can move.

Titans are a 8-8 team every yr anyway. May as well keep fisher for a few more yrs. Bud is so scared to mess up that easy cash cow he has that Fisher runs for him. Just think Bud is the only coach who doesn't even have to deal with the team at ALL. He and Fisher have gotten lazy.

I would have gotten rid of Fisher before letting go of Young. Fisher is the problem and i truly believe all the fans will see this soon enough.

Fisher may very well need to go as well but Vince doesn't understand how to prepare or what it takes to be a good NFL qb. Blame Fisher all you want (he does deserve some blame) but he covered for Vince for far too long, even when he didn't believe Vince was going to get it done.

When Vince decided to make his feelings public via the locker room Fisher decided he would no longer cover for him and could never support him as the leader of his offense.

It was the right decision and even though Young had the support of a few players on the offense the vast majority were fed up with his antics and commitment. This has been reported by a few reporters and I have heard this from a trainer on the team as well.

The overwhelming and compelling evidence is what convinced Bud to give up on his pet project.

What makes you think Cam is a good NFL passer...remember as you say that that VY was the top rated passer in the nation his junior season, so Newton is putting up worse passing numbers in an even more gimmicky offense...and is just as stupid as VY...like I said, the only difference would potentially be work ethic

Does anyone know anything about Blaine Gabbert from Missouri? I have to admit that I know nothing about him and don't remember watching any Mizzou games this year.

Me too. I don't really think Young is a bad QB, but I also don't think he's the anwer for getting any team to a Super Bowl, either.

Who is the last dumb quarterback to have any real success in the NFL. I qualify success as winning when it counts. The only one I can think of is Rex Grossman. He made it to a Superbowl, but lost, and he is definently dumb...

One of the prob hasn't ptoduced like he should. And in Tx they don't see the Titans all the time and they think he is progressing like Aaron Rodgers or something. They don't really understand that he is a nut job. And Bud is in Tx and he hears how great Vince is.
