We have all said release him after the season. I've even stated they aren't going to pay him the roster bonus he is owed after the season.

You have said up until now release him before the season. That has been the difference.

No, I haven't. Re-read this thread and find where I said release him this year. Go ahead.

As a matter of fact, check out page 3 of this thread where I said "if this was my team, I would release him after the season."

Look, if he doesn't pan out, he doesn't pan out. The Titans just need to give him a fair shake, and if he doesn't out play Collins, then release him. I, for one, think that if he can get his head straight and play motivated, he can be the Titans QB for a while.

---Which means he was what, 4th best in the conference that season?

---Didn't say he wasn't getting a fair shake. They just don't need to go into camp set on Collins as their starter.

---If VY doesn't earn the starting job, you have to release him, even though they will take a cap hit. The Titans are way below the cap anyway, so it won't be catastrophic to take the hit.

I agree 100%. My point is this...if he can't win the starting job, release him. Don't hold him hostage just because of a cap hit.

1. VY wasn't talking about 2010 in his statements to the press.

2. None of your first three posts indicate anything about the 2010 season.

Collins isn't getting any younger, so, if it were my team, I would release him after the season. I would feel much more comfortable with VY as my backup instead of Patrick Ramsey in the event Collins should get hurt.

But I don't think they release VY this year, it would be after the season at the earliest.

If VY and the Titans are to part ways, the future of the QB position on this team looks very bleak.

I agree as I said in my post right before this.

I think VY is due a roster bonus after this season that I don't see the Titans paying unless he plays this year, and plays very well.

Yea, they are in a tough position. They could always trade for Derek Anderson or Brady Quinn (whoever is available) and see what happens.

You later added releasing him after the season, which I had already said I agreed with, and pointed out myself.

So then there should be no back up qb's in the NFL and every team should release the guy that gets beat out?

Why is VY so different than the other qb's in the NFL?

Answer, he's the only one that opened his mouth to the media- so far.

I would like to see your thoughts on this as well.

The only reason this is an issue in Tennessee and not in Cleveland or Arizona or other places is because VY is an immature cry baby and whined about it to the media.

This will have zero effect on FA's in the future, that's a fact. Nobody cares what some whiny QB who can't cut it thinks.

1. Backup QB's who make 14.1 million shouldn't be on a team where they don't fit the team's "system."
2. The difference between Arizona/Cleveland and Tennessee is VY was a starter for 2 seasons and was a Pro-Bowler.

If the Titans are serious about VY being the future of the team, then all of this arguing is pointless.

They also don't indicate anything about the 2009 season, you just assumed they were.

Plus, if Vince leaves Tennessee, I'll have to get rid of my nice stitched jersey.
