sure they do. if they have players that they feel are not going to play for this team, the proper thing to do is to tell them they would be better off to go elsewhere. That is done all the time by staff's everywhere

This still makes no sense unless he and Jones had a major blow up over PT or some other issue or else he has a personal issue that everyone has agreed to keep quiet.

I see no way that Jones would not want him on the team or would discourage him from continuing to try to carve out PT. Even if he was sure he would ride the bench for the remainder of the season, there's no reason for him to quit before the end of the season. He still only has one year of eligibility assuming he transfers to a lower level.

he is going to get his degree in the spring and then try to go to another FBS school for his final year.

He got injured at the Oregon game. Not sure if he's fully healthy yet.

yes. he has an injury. ankle I believe. was on crutches for UGA game

CBJ told him coming off Georgia game that he was opening up the return job to competition. that is why he decided he wasn't interested in practicing but not being able to play.. his PT was going away

speculation on my part.

I think they had conversations with Jones and let him know they planned to head elsewhere. I suspect he asked if they could remain 100% committed to this team and if they felt they couldn't they could go ahead and leave. I would think they could not stay 100% committed to playing scout team so they left.

I'm just guessing but that could be a reasonable answer to your question

Hate it for both kids. IMO scheme change is the main reason. Off the subject but does this open up more we can take this year? Hope they give Swafford a scholly.

I don't think scheme change is/was issue. Some guys in every class don't pan out. They do not perform to the level of expectation of coaches and/or themselves. Some are not focused on the dream of being a top college player and get distracted. Others have always been so much more gifted than their competition that they wilt when the guy across from them is a little nastier and a little tougher. Dallas was not getting the PT he wanted and with Pearson, Booth, Wharton, Creamer, 2xBerrys, and perhaps Malone coming in next season he could see the writing on the wall in all caps and bold print. Good luck to him! It does seem like he worked hard. Posey....just not very good OR just not very focused.

Dallas and Posey do not open any additional scholarships this season or in 2015. They do help make room for the 30 we sign this year. Have to have a couple more move on to increase our 2015 take AND stay at 85 or less next year.

So He just quit huh? He should have pulled up His bootstraps and played harder. He could have improved His position in spring practice 2014. Hopefully CBJ can weed out all the driftwood quitters on the team. The team will be all the better for it.
