Vincent Dallas leaves team

I'm aware of the Jerry Springer syndrome being manifested in people who insist on being that way.
We're also homo sapiens sapiens so have the power
reason if and when we so choose. There's no excuse
for being a bigot about something or someone just because you can be. I'd like to see some of the quick to judge snots on here say what they post anonymously to the face of their targets or their team mates.
Speak for yourself! Just because you are an admitted homosapien doesn't mean we all are.

I could be the effort and time put in Sunday through Friday isn't worth the playing time they are getting on Saturday.

We would have a team of about 30 if this was an acceptable attitude.

I don't wish them any success going forward on the football field. Off the field I wish them the best but I wouldn't hire somebody that's quits their job half complete

Said this in another post and got flamed so flame on but it's the truth. Fugate left cause they told him the only place they were gonna use him was on special teams. Dallas and posey left for same reason. The players are repeatedly told that they are going to be replaced by "their recruits " especially next year. Now i think this is an incentive type thing but it is clearly backfiring when players walk off the field in middle of practice. Yes i think the best players should be played but just because you have a bad practice doesn't mean your a bad player. There is a fine line between prodding and degrading. Expect more to leave.

Especially considering the very very mediocre play we have seen from Worley.

Its akin to quitting a job before you have another one lined up and handle the process the proper way.
Wish him well, but he shouldve finished out. You can't always quit when you run into obstacles, but it sure does become habit.
Not everybody plays. If all players that think they should play more left the team, we wouldn't be able to field one.

Told by who? No coach is going to tell that to his players, even if he is thinking it.

I doubt many on here have held a job for 15 years or so. Most of these players have probably played football since they were 5 years old and are now 20ish. I realize Pop-Warner isn't a job, but when you're working in the off-season (7 vs 7), spring practice, Orange/White game, fall practice, regular season, 2-a-days, etc. football can easily start to feel like a job to a 21 year old. Maybe they're just tired of football? Playing time in front of 103k rejuvenates the soul - without it, football can start to feel like drudgery. Injuries and rehab only exacerbates the situation. I hate they're leaving the team, because quitting can be a bad habit to get into. But sometimes, the best thing to do is walk away. Bashing players (or former players) is rarely ever the best thing to do however.

I truly believe Dallas and Posey departures are simple. It is a change in systems, the way of doing Business by a new set of coaches/staffs.

It's mid season and I am sure that this week has been to counsel and evaluate players individually behind close doors. There is no more coddling going on or pumping sunshine. Players are asking questions and probably doing self evaluations in addition to the coaches evaluation.

In other words honest assessments. Some players walk away challenged by it some say what the heck. Most by human nature will take these evaluations as a win lose result and make a decision that they feel is best for them and not the organization.

If they stay and work to meet the evaluations given to them they contribute but if the stay with some recourse then they can become an infection to team dynamics.

In other words, both had a choice and both choose to not to stay. Posey had a bad practice and stated what the heck....outta here.

Disagree with the method you are suggesting....it's not that malevolent....

Well said. Looks like Dallas melted.

It was his decision to make, we don't know all the facts and probably never will. Why a 50+ year old man would bash a 19 or 20 year old for making a choice that might be best for his situation is kinda weird. I bet you are known as Uncle Bad Touch in your family.

And people wonder what's wrong in this world!!!

This thread is evidence this world is full of soft minded people that support kids for choosing to quit on their teammates instead of finishing what they started.

Organized athletics are such a huge part of our society because its supposed to teach toughness, perseverance, accountability, and a love for teammates.

Some people have those traits and others don't.

I was trying not to be judgmental because we don't know all the facts surrounding their situation. I don't believe quitting is the answer either, especially mid season, but we do not know the circumstances of either of their cases.

Happens all the time after a coaching change. They were probably told certain things by Dooley and Butch probably doesn't share the same mindset. New coach wants to use guys that fits his system. Good luck to both of them and whoever else leaves.
Exactly Correct answer to this problem:rock:

Posey walked off the practice field in the middle of practice earlier this week. Never returned. It's safe to say he is a quitter.

VQ posted that Dallas didn't show up for practice while he decided if he could continue due to his current role. Seems safe to call him a quitter as well

Hate it for both kids. IMO scheme change is the main reason. Off the subject but does this open up more we can take this year? Hope they give Swafford a scholly.

How do we know the coaches didn't give up on them as other posters have said maybe the coaches told them that they were going to be relegated to special teams and that she be thinking about looking for another team next year. I the coach told me that, basically saying no matter how much work you put in, your never going go have any meaningful role here, I would do whatever was in my own best interest. Not that the coaches said that be we don't know that they didn't either.

Casting judgment on these kids with only a fraction of the story is wrong. If it was my kid, I would encourage him to stick the year out at least.

If the coaches told them they would never play another snap at ut I would have espected them to finish what they started. That's what men of character would do

Let's all cast judgements on people's characters based on the life-or-death issue of whether they are on a football team.

Just curious did you see the inky Johnson speech to the team??!

If so do you disagree with him that there "is a direct coralation between football and life"??

He went on to say if you will quit on FB you will quit on things like marriage amongst other things.

You don't buy that??

So if your employer came to you said "You have no future here. Not only will you not get a raise I am cutting your pay in half and I expect you to work just as hard." You would say yes sir! I'm no quitter so I'm gonna stick this out so I can feel better about myself? Come on Bruin, I've been on your side more often than not. I'm disappointed in your stance here. I don't condone quitting but we don't know any of the details here so I refuse to cast judgment. Regardless of the circumstances, they should have finished out the year.
