That's a weird way to look at it imo. While I agree the Republican apple has died on the Conservative tree, it was kinda the point.

Our political system isnt set up to actually correct itself. It's one slide or another. The conservatives should have been about slowing those slides just via their nature. And considering we arent the most liberal progressive nation in the world attests to that.

I am one of the biggest critiques on here about parties, but the only thing worse than two parties that pretend is one that doesnt.

I'm afraid that the Dems/Libs/Socialists/Communists win in the long run. If so, it will be done through dividing the country into groups, focusing on one emotional issue that is important to each, bringing more of their constituents into the country, promising more and more free stuff, taking over the educational system, and brainwashing young people. They have a plan. Thankfully and hopefully, I'll be dead before the country goes tits up.

So about those neo-Nazis who were arrested. They’re allegedly members of the Base, which, according to the FBI, is an agglomeration of carbon-wasting individuals who want to start a white ethnostate.

Not exactly the kind of people you want attending your protest — but one hopes, given the arrests, the Base is being effectively tracked by the FBI and that most of its scanty membership will spend far more time in jail than they will in any ridiculous prospective ethnostate.

Once the story got an awful lot of alarmism out of the way, there was some interesting stuff buried in The Times’ article. Take this part, for instance: “One of the men, Patrik J. Mathews, 27, a main recruiter for the group, entered the United States illegally from Canada, according to the officials.”

Yes, an illegal immigrant is considered the ringleader of all of this.

The irony is probably lost on everyone: This guy wouldn’t even pass the most desultory of background checks. He’d crossed into in this country illegally, making the debate over whether he could own a firearm under Virginia’s laws wholly inconsequential to him.

they win because there is nothing to make the Rs different. expanded government under both. expanded wars under both. Decreased freedoms under both, it was an R who presided over the worst assault on freedom in my life, the Patriot Act. just being "not as bad" as the other doesnt sell.

if they actually did what they say they do they would still have a bunch of support. remember half the voting population doesn't vote. there are a ton of votes to be grabbed, if the party mattered. not saying they would get them all, but it could be a vast majority of voters if Rs actually played like Rs. instead of D light.

look at Trump, expanded subsidies, and is the first president in my life time to do "something" about guns. that doesn't read as an R. and the party just laps it up. they don't hold to their base, so its no wonder their base leaves them.

They will eventually win because more and more people are lazy and want free stuff. We either end up crashing and starting over or in a war within our own borders. I hope I’m dead when they take over fully

Not sure what you mean. The conservative tree is all but dead. Conservatives were always progressives that were 10 years behind.

We are the most bankrupt nation in history. Conservatives not only failed to stop the accumulation of debt and the centralization of govt power, they were the biggest proponents of it. Tarp, wars of adventure in the Middle East, medicare part d, the patriot act,etc.

I was having this same discussion with my copilot recently. At some point, the cities in every state will outnumber the rest of the state and the leftists will win. The only good thing about that is that they will demand socialism, and I will be a taker because I will be retired. My only question at the present time is how do I protect my wealth from their greedy little hands. I'm thinking Mason jars and gold. It certainly won't be anywhere where the thieves can get at it.

Hopefully.... enough will find that actually having a job and making a living is better than taking handouts. Since under Mr Trump, more people than ever are actually doing just that, there is a glimmer of hope to stamp out the freeloading luthers of this world. Short of that, I'm with you and I hope that I will be somewhere else because the idea of socialism is repugnant.
