Visa and MC Block Pornhub Payments

How would limiting access to 18 fix the above issues (from people uploading videos)?

Wouldn't.

But this is the next thing that will be looked at and need fixed or big Gov will step in and go way overboard.

It will be tipper gore 2.0 and 2 live crew all over again.

We've been here for 20+ years and what's the proper way to keep minors off a website?

Why you think pornhub is in hot water right now?

Revenge porn, underage porn, and trafficking.

So the link is clearly there.
Because someone saw them as an easy mark

It's the same reason they've renamed all prostitution stings to "human trafficking" operations instead. This happens even though the only people caught are just the same as they always were.

When pornhub gets in trouble due to bad scripts let me know.

Currently though its revenge porn, trafficking, under age videos.

Limiting access to 18 and up would fix their current legal issues. If they don't get fixed or better self regulated the feds will eventually step in and that is never a good thing.

I am keeping this in the context of their current legal issues.

Didnt see that Velo said the same thing

You just said it would fix their current legal issues and that is what you are focusing on. Now you admit it wouldnt.

You are all over the place.

That really has become watchwords in the last few years.

This shadowy businessman is reportedly behind Pornhub parent MindGeek

The world’s most powerful internet porn company is owned by a shadowy businessman who barely exists online, a new report says.

Bernard Bergemar is the biggest owner of MindGeek, the Luxembourg-based conglomerate behind popular porn sites such as Pornhub, YouPorn and Brazzers, a Financial Times investigation found.

MindGeek had long kept Bergemar’s identity a closely held secret that only a handful of company executives and their advisers knew about, according to the paper. Before Thursday, his name only appeared in three Google search results related to his past role as an executive at RedTube, a porn platform MindGeek now owns.

While he’s not mentioned in the company’s corporate filings, the Financial Times revealed that Bergemar is MindGeek’s largest beneficiary thanks in part to a “complex network of subsidiaries” in which he owns a large chunk of the shares.

For instance, MindGeek has a $200 million debt to one of those subsidiaries that’s paid in installments as large as $1.8 million a month, adding up to an amount that outpaces the company’s declared profits in some years, according to the paper.

Not sure if I understand your characterization here. Who are you saying saw them as “an easy mark”?

You don’t think these companies should have responsibility and liability to confirm the content posted /published to their platforms is not illegal?

That’s what has and is happening - they did not verify all content and are now paying for it.

The website below has been around since February 2020 and is run by Laila Mickelwait

Traffickinghub - Shut Down Pornhub and Hold Its Executives Accountable for Aiding Trafficking

Moral panic often wins. Pornhub could have done everything imaginable to prevent bad behavior from unverified users and failed, so now they restrict their business to verified users. Just because bad **** happened doesn't mean they did wrong.

Check out backpage. There were few instances of underage **** going on their site and they did everything they could to help authorities and they still got shut down. The do-gooders pushed prostitution back onto the streets and eliminated the electronic paper trail that helps to guarantee the safety of sex workers.

It's Irrelevant unless you want to make porn transactional.

You can make it one time transactional.

You guys don't get this.

The porn industry will either self regulate or the feds will step in and go way over board.

Seems every one of you is missing this now.

Bump for Neo.

3rd paragraph. You literally say 18 would fix their issues.

There are two huge issues with them right now. Uploads and downloads.

The 18 verification will fix the download issue.

The upload issue is also being dealt with but a much bigger can of worms.

I was speaking of download issues in that paragraph. Not upload.

The next step is downloads.

It's coming.

This is just the start.

The upload issue is a much bigger problem and not going to be an easy fix at all with so many uploads not being from licensed production studios but trust me the download issue is coming on its heels.

The studios can either be pro activate and self regulate better or they are gonna get torched by the feds eventually.

Nobody is taking away your porn, Louder.

How about the feds just stay the **** out of it? Go after the people taking videos of the underage people instead?

Don't disagree but it's not what the feds do.

Once the spotlight is shined on something they begin throwing oversight upon oversight into the industry.

I am not advocating federal oversight.

I am simply saying pornhub needs to do something on the download side via self regulation or the feds will either do it for them or just shut them down.

I'm fine with PH making an internal decision to do whatever, I'm 1000% against the .gov forcing them.
