Vitale: SEC 5th best Conference

His analysis is a joke! It consists of simply naming a few teams and 3-4 players in the league. With that said I'm ranking the Sun Belt as the #1 conference based on the following:

It's loaded with the likes of coach Ken McDonald's WKU team who reached the 2nd round of the NCAA for the 2nd year in a row led by AJ Slaughter (a PTP'er). Kermit Davis returns a solid MTSU squad with SR Montarrio Haddock. Of course you have South Alabama who is consistently a conference contender. They won 20 games last year losing the SBCG to WKU. It says a lot about this conference when MTSU is preseason 10th after winning 18 games a year ago. Look for the Sun Belt to maybe make some noise when they take on the likes of several SEC & Big 12 teams. Whoa baby it was tough but with the teams and coaches in this conference I give the Sun Belt the slight edge over the others. It must be good to be Sun Belt commissioner Wright Waters these days!

The SEC has not had a good start to the season---too many early upsets to poor teams. At this point, KY and TN are the only locks for the post season and KY is a lock only because of a new coach and national media that has labeled them as a final 4 team.

and again, anyone who thinks that the SEC East puts five teams in the NCAAs is out of their mind.

Emain we should know the answer to whether they can get 4 in 1 month.

"Michigan State and Purdue are capable of making a run to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indy for the Final Four."

That is from Dick Vitale. We will probably have the chance to beat Purdue soon.

Vanderbilt could easily be ranked by Christmas.

Florida is I think better than people are giving them credit. Donovan has not been bringing in scrubs in Gainesville.

have you seen UF? Have you looked at the PG position and the horrendous D? If they get even a sniff, the NCAA tourney will be littered with garbage.

Florida recruiting has fallen off in recent years. Donavan is a good coach, but doesn't have the players to make the NCAA. At this point, TN and KY are the teams likely to make the tournament. South Carolina will be the same as last year, relying on a small guard to carry them. Miss. State is not an NCAA team. Vandy could end up being a team that will make the tournament. They are more athletic than usual. We could easily have only three teams in the tournament this year.

As it stands no, and some of us are sounding like a broken record, but if Sidney gets in, they will be playing in the 'AAs

With everyone playing, MSU makes it.

They were mediocre last year. Winning the SEC tournament masked an otherwise nondescript season.

I bet Hat would be all over Stansbury if he was asked for a performance assessment. Put aside losing to Rider at home which is awful, look at the fact that they lose kids who transfer out every year. This is not like TN losing Duke Crews...

Ben Hansbrough's first game as a starter with Notre Dame: 18 pts, 7 assists, 4 Rebounds, 1 turnover, 3-4 from 3 point line.

You used the wrong verb. SHOULD have only 3 teams. Other than UK and UT, none of the other SEC teams would run through a lesser conference like CUSA, A-10, or MVC unscathed. Nor would any be guaranteed of winning any of those conferences.

I think very soon you will be able to argue the SEC is better than the Big 10. Ole Miss just drilled Indiana, Ohio State played UNC close but that is like Memphis playing Kansas close in that a loss is not something to define your conference as good and TN is going to play Purdue. Ohio State may be about to lose again to Cal.

Iowa also has worse losses at this point than Georgia. Wisconsin may lose soon to Arizona and Illinois could go down to the Terriers...
