Not a regular poster in the baseball forums - so forgive if the question line seems elementary.
Does anyone know CTV's end game, or ultimate, position?

Is it a long term, head coach at the college level with multiple National Titles quickly?...if so, LSU might be the place to make that happen.
Is it a long term, head coach at the college level with the potential to build a program into multiple titles?...if so, UT is more attractive.
Is his end desire to be coaching in MLB?...if so, I think the 'instant win' atmosphere of LSU would seem more appealing.

No one knows. But MLB jobs are hard to get when you’ve never been in the MLB. So I doubt that’s his motivation.

Funding I think will come .. its the land issue ... that block is land locked .. unless they close the road in outfield ..railroad tracks back there have us stymied ..also the frat houses behind and the road down left field ... land locked is what we are ..and I would not want a stadium off campus .

So is it basically down to O'Connor and Vitello? Oregon State retired coach out and so is Bianco...what other names are out there?

If being miserable was enough to eliminate UT fans, UT would have no fans left at this point.

Note to all of the self-righteous, many of us have degrees from the place, and we couldn’t stop being fans if we tried.

Why? You'd be shocked if O'Connor left UVA to go to the premier college baseball program to follow in the steps of his mentor, but you'd not be shocked, and you expect, Tony Vitello who has zero ties to LSU to leave Tennessee? Makes sense.

I'm not asking people to not be fans, but if you have read even a fraction of the word vomit spewed on this board the past 24 hours, you'd understand that some people should just log-off the internet for a bit and go do something outside. People have lost their minds.

Hes been there forever. Tony has been here four years. He isn’t established here nor does he have any ties here. It’s not rocket surgery

Then who else but Vitello? If others have said no, then he is the next hot choice, LSU might have to throw some big money north of 2 million if they had to go to B list..their fans aren't gonna be happy if that were to occur

I don't think LSU has offered any of the guys who "turned it down". LSU has zeroed in on who they want and they'll get him, question is who? I think it's Tony V

I won't fault anyone taking that job...its the best baseball gig in the country imo...lots of pressure but also if you want to compete for championships you have everything you need there

I’m also going to say this…

By going radio silent, Danny White is going to look like he was asleep at the switch and just didn’t care. He can’t just let LSU call an introductory press conference and lose control of the narrative. And then a day later announce UT’s “commitment” to baseball and that he is starting his own coaching search.

He knows where things stand. He needs to be out in front of this.
