I'd probably bet the overall star rating for Dooley's first class will not be over 3.62 (Rivals). It's not fair to just go by ranking, you have to look at the #'s too. Kiffin only brought in 21 but it was a solid class. If Dooley brings in 27 guys this year we will probably be right there around the #10 - #15 range... JMO.

nah, that's too easy. Saban's 1st class at Bama was only a 3.28 star average when he had to rebuild the holes, just like Dooley is getting ready to do.

let's bet on where the class ranks. you seem so sure Dooley can't recruit. where do you think we will rank?

we will only be able to sign 25 or 26 depending on what happens with Brewer.

10-15 would be a great class this year and that's where we both think we will end up.

I'm not saying Dooley can't recruit. I'm saying.. to this point... he hasn't really shown me much other than a few select guys. I hope he proves me wrong, I really do. I'd love to get a top 3 class and just be completely wrong.

I'm not going to bet that Dooley won't get a top 10 class. I wouldn't feel right about doing that. I don't THINK he will, but I'm not going to bet against our entire signing class.

I'd say he'll sign the max and we'll end up around 12-15. JMO

Kiffin had holes, too. All 3 of those coaches had work to do coming in.

Yeah, Saban didn't get much in that class besides what? McClain and Maze? Wasn't that his first class? Oh and Kerry Murphy.

So I guess Kiffin out-recruited Saban in year 1? Just based on average stars.

a top 3 class? is that where your expectations are? no wonder you are disappointed haha.

i think we will be in the same area as you do (10-15) and it will build the foundation for our team just like Saban's '07 class did.

No, I don't even expect top 10. I was saying I wouldn't mind for Dooley to completely make me look foolish and recruit like a man with his hair on fire.

What I was saying about Saban is that his first class was similar to Kiffin and Dooley's where he was hired in January and had to turn it around quick. Alot of work to do. He came away with a few solid players (McClain obviously a beast) and it's very comparable to the way Kiffin started. The jury's just still out for me on what Dooley can get done on the recruiting front. That's been my point this entire time. I'd love nothing more than for him to completely make me look like a 'tard and rake in some high-level prospects between now and NSD.

well, Barton Simmons played some college ball somewhere I think and Barry Every used to work in actual college recruiting offices (UGA and UNC iirc).

but anybody on this board is just as qualified as Farrell, Crabtree, Ladky, Newberg, and those other guys on Rivals.
