VN Article: Tennessee Two-fer Tuesday

I mean really? I remember you bashing Dooley taking Dontavis Sapp. Don't act like you didn't.

Flat out lie per usual.

Find me the posts where I bash Sapp.

And I was listing how our early commits look this year compared to our early commits last year. Try to keep up lmao.

lol yes I listed Jose and 3 guys who couldn't qualify last year cuz THAT'S WHAT WE HAD COMMITTED AT THE SAME TIME LAST YEAR HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

You cannot compare what Kiffin did in September to what Dooley is doing in June lololol.

And I will never put you on ignore;. i get too much amusement out of it haha.

DOOLEY, B

but I'm sorry, at this point in time last year not only was Kiffin ahead of Dooley in recruiting, he actually had 100% of VOL FANS excited about football again.

Can you honestly say that 100% are still as excited as they were this time last year?

no he was not ahead. at this same point Kiffin had 3 guys who could not qualify, an obese troublemaking OL that NOBODY wanted, and 2 solid DL.

no, I cannot say I am as excited as I was last year. i have never been as excited about UT football as i was last year. Kiffin brought so much swag it was ridic and i loved being hated.

that being said, I would take Dooley's class over Kiffin's at this same point in time. not saying I would later in the year cuz i dunno what Dooley will do, but right now, I choose Dooley's.

Dude, I guess just agree to disagree.

Kiffin grabbed Bryce and Janzen out of nowhere. The only guy of that caliber that Dooley's gotten like that is Rogers.

From Dec 1 when Kiffin was hired to when the '09 class closed out: Janzen, B Brown, Oku, Toney Williams, Myles Jr, Nuke, Eric Gordon, Marsalis Teague, Jacques Smith (I know), Nyshier Oliver (de-committed and changed to ND but Kiffin got him back), Mike Edwards (thug but was a fairly solid get and would've maybe HELPED us get a foot in the door with one of the best HS programs in Ohio) and Arthur Jeffery if you want to throw him in there. (I'm only counting the guys Kiffin pulled, not counting guys like Marlon Walls and Montori Hughes in the class)

So that's Dec 1 to March 16th when Bryce committed. Exactly 3 and half months.

From the day Dooley was hired + 3 and half months:

Even if you want to count Hunter and Loften (already looking at us, especially Loften he was basically a Kiffin recruit) that's fine. Da'Rick Rogers (nice get), Rajion Neal (i like the get), James Stone (we'll see), Michael Rivera (you said he's not that good yourself, should I find that post???), Marteze Jackson (.....), Dontavis Sapp (.....), John Propst (eh), Raiques Crump (....), Dave Clark (Dooley brought him basically from LA Tech... we'll see), and Nash Nance (bait for Rogers.. and Kiffin brought in Tyler Bray). Oh, Darin Gooch was Dooley's post-NSD pull and Christian Harris for 2011 (eh, whatever).

Looks like the only position that'd be better is WR to me. But Nuke and Teague weren't chopped liver coming out of HS. And I didn't even mention James Green who didn't make it in.

So basically through the first 4 months (spanning the end of one class and beginning of another for both) Kiffin's list is clearly better.

If Kiffin hadn't left we'd have Markeith Ambles, Brandon Willis, Glen Stanley (unless he wasn't able to get into the SEC?), Kenbrell Thompkins, and no telling who else if USC hadn't pulled the rug out on us. Heck, Kyle Prater may be at UT if Kiffin were here. I'd take Ambles and Prater over Rogers as a pair for sure. Kiffin also got Matt Milton and Ted Meline. So I think we'd have our bases covered at WR, too.

of course Kiffin woulda had a better class last year, but Dooley did a ridiculous job of still pulling in the #9 class in such a horrible situation.

DOOLEY, B

So you're just choosing a time-period that suits your needs haha??

GO FROM DAY 1!!! Name every recruit Dooley's gotten so far, then name every recruit Kiffin got within that same amount of time!!! Don't just choose 4 of Kiffin's worst recruits and compare them to Dooley's gets! That's ridiclous.

And you won't ignore me??? That's what I thought.

and I have already broken the recruits from day 1 down for you at least twice. Kiffin had the #10 class, Dooley had the #9. And I have broken down Jose, Jacques, Copeland, Broussard, Irvin, and Harris vs. Harris, Posey, Power, Randolph, and Smith.

Bam, I understaand your point of view on this, however it is not fair to Dooley to take the first 3-1/2 months and compare. In Kiffin's first months those recruits HAD to sign somewhere. Granted, he pulled some talented guys (which some are already gone fwiw), but Dooley isn't going to have that cache because there is no time limit this time of year.

Both you and LV have compelling arguments, it is just apples to oranges.

Uhhhh KIFFIN was hired Dec 1st 2008. Go from Dec 1 2008 to WHENEVER YOU WANT!!! Why can't I count Bryce Brown and Janzen Jackson???? He closed those guys within 4 months of being here!!!

Dooley was hired in mid-Jan 2010.

Kiffin wasn't hired in September. Dooley had the #9 class THANKS to Kiffin. Let's see if he has the #9 class this year.

And BTW, Kiffin wasn't in the best situation either. He had to close out a class in less than 3 months too.

I just don't see how you can argue Kiffin's first 5-6 months to Dooley's recruiting wise. They were both in HORRIBLE positions (Dooley's was worse, I know that). But Kiffin pulled Bryce Brown, Nuke, Teague and Janzen Jackson out of NOWHERE in 4 months. I mean come on.

Why does everyone seem to live in the past here? All he Bam is saying is that at THIS point in the year Kiffin was ahead of where Dooley is. He stated facts, and the rest of you ALL wrap your mouths around LV's cod. I respect info that LV brings here but I'm sorry, at this point in time last year not only was Kiffin ahead of Dooley in recruiting, he actually had 100% of VOL FANS excited about football again.

V,B ..

+1

No you didn't. You gave me Jose Jose. You basically argue that Kiffin's first 4 commits are worse than Dooley's first 4 of 2011 haha. You're refusing to give Kiffin credit for pulling Bryce Brown, Janzen Jackson, Teague, and Nuke within 4 months of being hired. Teague and Nuke within 3 months.

Dooley's been here since January. That's almost 6 months. I'm just counting Kiffin's first 3-4 months.

no i'm not. he should get alot of credit for pulling those guys.

and you're refusing to give Dooley credit for pulling in the #9 class in 2 weeks and having a solid recruiting class right now for '11.

You're right, I refuse to give him credit for the #9 class because the majority were Kiffin guys.

Just like in '09 I wouldn't bash Kiffin for the "#10 class" when he was closing out Fulmer's horrid class.

Plus the only reason "Dooley's 2010 class" was higher was due to more commits. The average star-rating (since you want to use what Rivals is telling you) for Kiffin's first class:

3.62

Average for Dooley's first class:

3.44

Let's see you spin that.

he had to get bodies Bam. is it really that hard for you to understand? he HAD to take guys like Sapp, Crump, Jackson, etc. if you haven't noticed we have like 75 guys on scholly and Kiffin left us in a terrible mess recruiting wise. Geez i don't know what's so hard to understand about this for you.

So am I right or wrong?

Kiffin didn't take guys like that! He was in almost just as bad of a position. The ONLY argument you could make is "Well, we were also paying his staff way more $$$ and he had Monte Kiffin to sell".... that's the only thing I can see as a legit argument. "Having" to take guys that you know will probably be special teams players (and if they're starting in 3 years, that's probably not going to be a good thing for us) just wasn't in Kiffin's vocab man. Again, Dooley had 1 month and yes that's worse than the 3 that Kiffin had but I just don't see how you can argue what that staff did in recruiting to what we're looking at now.

I guess that best thing for you and I to do is compare this thing a little later on. We'll see what Dooley's made of. How about that? Fair? Let's compare in December. That's the first year of Dooley and recruits will have been able to see his offense/defense, etc.

Nevermind, you're apparently just as hard-headed as I am.

We'll compare Kiffin's recruiting to Dooley's "after he's had time". How's that?
