VN Official Nascar Thread

I believe the 5 drivers I picked were 2-6...although my predicted winner didnt finish 1st...I should come out good on TENNFAN's rank. Just wish hed post standings among all those who entered after every race...if he does I missin em. :dunno:

I wonder what, if anything, they'll do to jeffy boy for going after Kenseth. If that had been Stewart then DW and all the other hendrick homers would be screaming for a suspension. I bet they don't do anything to jeffy.

It won't get a suspension, and it probably shouldn't. I'm just saying if it had been Tony they'd be screaming bloddy murder right now.

Tony wouldn't do something like that... he has to have his entire crew present and still waits for the other guy to turn his back before he does something.

But yes... DW probably would've been on Tony like stink on poo if he pushed someone.

That's because Tony makes that kind of behavor a common habbit. Big difference between a one time shove a a guy almost weekly throwing a fit and acting like that.

If Kurt Busch is going to have a dominant year, that will be just one more reason for me not to be involved...what a punk!

Watch out for the Biffleator, though!

Our Biffleator is having a rough start this year! We still have a long way to go though.

Ah, Kurt will be tough at the short tracks, but until the Penske teams can figure out the Dodges at the downforce tracks, he (and Newman) will qualify well then fade to the middle of the pack.

#48-Jimmie Johnson crashed in Turn 4 when his right rear tire went flat at Lowe's Motor Speedway during the Goodyear tire test Wednesday morning. Johnson was not injured in the accident, but his Hendrick Motorsports Chevy could not be repaired enough for him to continue to test on the newly repaved track. "The tire went down, lost air pressure," said Rick Heinrich, Goodyear's Nextel Cup product manager. "He had felt the tire start to go down in Turn 1, and in Turn 3, the deflation of the tire completed. ... We're still looking at the tire and trying to come up with a concrete determination of what caused the tire to go down. We don't know if it was a puncture or wear-related at this point." Johnson's was the only incident during the Tuesday all-day session and the Monday morning session. #43-Bobby Labonte, #10-Scott Riggs, #29-Kevin Harvick and Bobby Hamilton Jr. in a truck also participated in the session.(SceneDaily.com)(3-29-2006)

Official lap times were not reported during a tire test at Lowe's Motor Speedway Tuesday and Wednesday, but #43-Bobby Labonte said he came within .3 second of the last October's pole-winning lap, Elliott Sadler's 27.948-second lap at 193.216 mph. "It's going to be faster [than 2005]," Riggs said. "Is it going to be fast enough that we're going to need restrictor plates? Absolutely not ... even if we are going to break the track record. Anytime you come out with a new tire or new paving, we always break track records. I don't think just because we are going to run faster than the track record previously, it's not by two seconds or 10 miles an hour." Goodyear is testing tires to determine a compound to use when Nextel Cup teams test on the newly paved track May 1-3. The Nextel Cup series races at the track twice in May, for the all-star event and the Coca-Cola 600. Tire problems marred both races at Lowe's after the track surface was ground down last year, but this year, the track has been repaved. "Anytime you come out to a test like this, there are a lot of unknowns," said Rick Heinrich, Goodyear's Nextel Cup product manager. "We knew the conditions would be severe. We knew there would be a lot of speed. New asphalt generally generates a lot of wear. Conditions were a little more severe than we anticipated but not out of the ordinary." Labonte, Riggs, Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson and the truck of Bobby Hamilton Jr. participated in the test. Riggs said he did not think speeds were so fast that restrictor plates would be needed in May. Heinrich said the wear is coming on both sides of the car and front and rear. The loads are similar to loads from last year, he said. "Right now, there's a little bit too much wear, but that's kind of expected because the asphalt is real fresh," Heinrich said. "The more laps ... will slow that wear down."(SceneDaily.com)(3-29-2006)

Mark Martin and Roush Racing have decided to add an additional seven races to Martin's 2006 Truck Series schedule. Martin, who boasts two victories in the first three races of the season, will now run a total of 14 races in the Scotts Miracle-Gro Ford F-150 this season. Martin was originally scheduled to run only seven events in the truck, but will now add races at both Martinsville events, Dover, Bristol, Loudon, Talladega and Phoenix, bringing his total to 14. Roush newcomer David Ragan will also increase his schedule, adding events in the #50 Ford F-150. Ragan will drive the # 6 Scotts Ford in the other 11 races of 2006, when Martin is not competing. Roush will enter Ragan in additional events to allow him more seat time and experience. Ragan made his first start of 2006 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, and will compete in the #50 again at Martinsville Speedway on April 1.(Roush Racing PR)(3-28-2006)
