The one that stands out is the year we played Georgia, Travis Stephens senior year. I was there enjoying the game with friends in a sea of red (had swapped two tickets to get three together), we were coasting.Slowly , the game took an ugly turn. Then, Travis Stephens long run to regain the lead late. Then Tennessee squib kicked the kick off(?), David Greene ripped our defense apart, the rest is history, end of game. Emotional roller coaster that day to say the least.

I'd like to forget that I ever read this thread and was reminded of that game.

yeah, that was bad, but for me there are a couple...the fumble against UGA at the end of the 1st half a few years ago...that sucked. the game against UF a couple of years ago in the rain...sucked out loud.

But the single play that i'll never forget was Andy Kelly's pass against ND in Neyland....the INT in the 4th qtr....What a great game for it to end like that...and Andy really had a GREAT game except for that one play....i can still see the end zone shot where the ball is falling right toward the receiver's hands and BAM out of nowhere another set of hands in a white jersey...game over.

31-0 in 94 Florida game sucks too. that was my first game at Neyland Stadium...

What about the kickoff return when the Memphis player was down, but got up and ran 40 more yards. Was that '97 Memphis? Really sucked, because Memphis beat Peyton and the Vols.

It was about this same time, for all you Cutcliffe lovers, that we couldn't wait to get rid of him. How soon we forget.

It was 96, and i was there...i thought i had expunged that game from memory...thanks, i guess, for reminding me...

And you're right...that game, the play calling drove me NUTS....run, run, run....most stubborn thing i've ever seen.

Georgia never really bothered me until the 2001 game that is mentioned above. Keyon Whiteside biting on that playaction makes me want to scream, :banghead: , among other things.

I think this years Florida game pretty much summed up the season this year. Talk about how a defense is a terrible thing to waste!

the pass over the middle on the final drive by georgia.

little man's fumble at the endzone to bama.

anderson's fumble this year.

the 5 fumble game in teh rain against florida.

the questionable catch in the endzone by florida.

pretty much the whole year of 05.

One of the games was against the Irish when the Vols had the chance to win and the pass was dropped in the end zone. Believe that was in November 1990. Anytime we lose to the Gators. :bad:
The tough losses this year to South Carolina, Bama, and Vandy (I was there for that one and was the first time I've been to a game that the Vols lost :bad: ).

Not to beat a dead horse but the 1995 game has to be one of the worse losses ever!

Oh yeah the 2001 SEC Championship game was pretty painful especially after the great game in Gainesville!

the 1986 army game at home. Army blocks a punt late in the 4th quarter and runs it in the endzone. Jeff Franics' pass was broken up in the last play intended for anthony morgan where he appeared to have the ball for a split second. Being defending SEC champs and then losing to them at home was pretty bad. They were the last unranked nonconference team to beat the vols at home.

Actually andy Kelly threw an interception in the endzone after getting it to the 20 yard line under a minute.

I was thinking about losing to LSU in the SEC championship game when everyone thought if we won we were gonna get a shot at playing for the NC.

I answered the other thread with two words, so this one only gets one:

Vanderbilt.

It doesn't need a year attached because this season will probably be the only win for the Dores for a span of 40-50 years.

(although the '94 Florida game was dang miserable)

My worst memory was the 1958 Auburn game. Not many games were televised back then but this one was on national tv. We had just bought our first tv and the game was the biggest deal to me that had ever come down the pike. I had followed the Vols on the radio with George Mooney and Bob Foxx but I had never been able to go to a game and this would be the first time I had ever actually seen my beloved Vols. It was an early season game and I was so excited I turned the tv on long before the game and counted down the minutes. Auburn won that game handily. The part that bothers me is that the Vols did not get a SINGLE first down. Not one during the entire game. We had a lack luster team this year but I don't remember a game where they failed to stretch the chains. Such a miserable October afternoon in 1958.

I think it was Ty Law. We had scored on the previous drive with a very similar play - I've heard the ND player (whoever it was) talk about how he baited Kelly into throwing that since it worked before - :shakehead:
