What baffles me is how tough it is to find TN shorts that don't hang down past my knees!!! For goodness sakes can't Addidas come out with some decent workout shorts??? Maybe some soccer shorts??? 5 in to 7in inseam would be nice. Rant over...

THERE ARE NONE! ok. yall fergit about the dang Sweatshirt for a while. When they become available again, I will get one. Right now, they are not in stores. I was just hoping someone knew of somewhere that I didnt. Ive checked Stokely, Ive checked all the web stores, Ive googled. I will wait til fall. Realy. No big deal, it was just a question.

wow. :hi:

My sister rowed for UT in about 2002ish (right after I graduated) so I have a soft spot for rowers. I only mention my graduation date to make clear that I have been off campus for ten years and am not very up to date. If memory serves, Rowing is really a club sport and not a varsity sport (unless things have changed). That means there won't be much, if any, officially licensed gear. Like Fraternities, Sororities, ROTC, etc there are tons of shirts running around campus for those "clubs" (for lack of a better word) but in general you have to buy them through that organization and they are produced on a limited run basis.

You would probably be better off going to spreadshirt.com and making your own.

Of course, I could be wrong and maybe rowing is a varsity sport. If so, I can offer you no advice on how to find any gear.

EDIT: I stand corrected. This intrigued me so I called my sister who informed me that it is a Varsity sport, and that it is part of the collegiate athletics program (apparently competes in conference USA). My apologies for being under informed. I leave my post here as a testament to humility and taking my humble pie. The end result is no different, she has no idea where to get any gear either.

Women's Rowing has been a varsity sport at Tennessee since 1999.

There is also a women's club team, but his daughter is a member of the varsity team.

I actually corrected my post after calling my sister and I stand, hat in hand, humbled. I meant no offense. In my defense, I started UT the fall of 1997 so my limited run-ins with rowers were probably in the time before they were elevated to varsity level. My sister filled me in on the details, as she rowed about 2002, and she was elated to tell me how wrong I was. I accept that.

Back when I was there....20 years ago we could order fraternity sweat shirts, etc from the bookstore at the corner of Cumberland and 17th. They may be able to order special items.

I appreciate the gesture of leaving the original post. No offense was taken.

There is a small amount of gear available at the Store in Stokely Athletic Ctr. But it is rather limited.

I ran into the fanatics.com link while searching to see what MSU had. It was kind of strange that the fanatics site didnt let me see any of the rowing gear until I found a back way into it. But the gear is really limited. I have seen some different stuff with the other parents, Im sure that Stokely re-stocks with different gear every year. I just want to make sure I have a sweatshirt before the fall races, and then again for early spring next year.

I kept finding myself looking for sweatshirts or jackets that didnt say "MSU" or "Gators" on them, and I was a bit embarrassed by my lack of gear.

It is awesome that you have a sister that rowed. It is a very impressive sport. Rowers are freaks of nature. My daughter checked out a rowing machine from the boat house on Sunday and has been on it every day this week. A light day of workout is a 2mile run and a 2k erg. crazy people.

:good!::good!:

Yes, rowers are certainly beasts (and I mean that in a good way). I did not fully appreciate my sister's story until we talked this morning about it. She had always been a soccer player, and had offers to play at the collegiate level (although not Div I) but chose to forgo that to attend UT. She "walked on" to the rowing team, having never rowed a second in her life. She was the only "walk on" that year offered a full-scholarship. Again, she turned that down. I get the feeling that she, like her big brother, likes to do things just to see if she can and then quickly loses interest. lol.

I can certainly sympathize with the grueling hours of hard work that she and your daughter put in. I spent five days a week, up at 0600 to run, work out, and then off to a full day of class myself. It sucked, but if I had a time machine I would go back and relive every second of it! Oh, and I got to see the 1998 national championship season in person...those weren't bad times at all. ;)

Yes, that does sound like good times!!

My kid came in the same way as your sister. Except my kid missed out on Sports in HS because we moved here to TN. She had made the freshman Basketball team back home, but we moved here 2 weeks before her Freshman year started, and they didnt have/werent willing to create a spot for her. The school was too small for a freshman team, didnt have a JV team, and she wasnt ready for Varsity. Softball went pretty much the same way, except add in an ankle sprain two days before tryouts.

SO, she was watching the 08 Olympics, and saw the rowing and the thought that went through her head was "that is the perfect sport. You dont need a life time of experience, it is all power, endurance, and heart" So, we looked into it, and she worked on grades to assure that college would be free, and then was ready to roll for Rowing when she hit campus.

Essentially ZERO HS athletics (club track, and Rec Basketball and Softball) But she is the most competitive person I have ever met. She loves the sport, and probably will row for years after college as well. It keeps her too busy to get bored, and gives her something to do when she misses her lil sister and lil brother.

But most of all, she loves the competition. She loves competing for the lady vols. We talked the other day about what it would feel like if she had to Row against Mich State. It would be weird. Then I turned it around and asked what it would feel like if she changed schools and had to turn around and row against UT. "even more weird. Couldnt do it" I thought that was pretty cool. She is all in, and will make you folks proud of her, no doubt.

I got some Lacrosse Adidas UT shorts - fit is right a bit above the knee and I am 5 10 --- You should know Adidas thinks everyone is a 6 foot 4 basketball player and anyone under 6 foot, they think, should look like a clown in their gear.

Yeah it drives me nuts. I've ordered like 3 pairs, hoping for something good, that I just don't wear cause they are annoying. Do you have a link to the ones you got? I like them a little shorter cause I'm told I have nice legs...ha!! But I'll take what I can.

DP...if you see this put in a word for us normal sized guys that want gear we can work out in, and not have to fold up the waist and look like douches. Thanks.

Edit: do u have a link to the ones u got?

Anyone seen the new coaches polos for this season? They look much better than last years. They're not screen printed. That just looked cheap.

I like long shorts to work out in myself, so I'm not getting on that train, sorry.

For the record, Nike screen printed logos one on set of their coaches polos last year as well. I sort of liked the screened logos, less itchy when worn without an undershirt, but to each his own.

Where's the best place online to get an authenic jersey? That looks halfway decent.

I have an authentic home jersey that's brand new. #7. Its from the last year when we screaned the numbers. I can tell you how to spot a replica from an authentic. Message me if your intrested. I was gonna frame it but never got around to it.
