Volinbham Talks Marketing and Bud Light

What I don't get is the cost/benefit here. There would be such a miniscule gain, even from a "successful" marketing campaign involving a trans person. There just aren't that many of them and they're probably not buying a cheap beer associated with middle America. Was the thinking that pro-trans rights people who are not themselves trans would be motivated to buy Bud light because they're "inclusive"? I get you don't want to appear bigoted, but I'm not sure appearing forcefully non-bigoted gets you much.
If I had to guess, this was more about the VP marketing the VP than the VP marketing BL. She was trying to make a big move, which she did, but was a very wrong big move for BL. I have no doubt she’ll land somewhere that thinks this was a wonderful move

Increasing pushback from the Left over AB’s attempts to “fix” things.

LGBTQ+ group slams Bud Light for not defending transgender rights

What an absolute no-win sh!tshow scenario AB has placed itself in.

At this point, given what BL has done, a case can be made that the proper damage control should be to screw the LBGTQ community and go hard after the cornhole throwing folks. Such is the predicament they're now in

The LGBTQIA+ community wasn’t looking for a reason to drink Bud Light.
The segments of the population that look to support the LGBTQIA+ community weren’t switching to Bud Light.

Bud Light only stood to lose with this.

And now they’re losing on 2 fronts.

I think there is such a stigma attached to BL now that they are unlikely to ever recover from this marketing blunder and how they reacted to it. I fully expect them to repackage the swill as some other brand, but it will never have the same sales that BL did due to their previously excellent marketing strategy.

Nah. Bud Light will be a Top 3 brand for years to come.

But this has been an unmitigated disaster. And an embarrassment.

And it will not be forgotten. Bud Light will be discussed for years in Business Schools along with the likes of New Coke and Enron.

Not that it matters, but I haven't bought any Gillette products since they came out with their toxic men advertisement a few years ago. I guess time will tell about BL, but I've never drank any of their products, so I have no idea if this ban will last or not, but it seems to have taken on a cult following of the "we've had enough" variety among middle America.

quarter 1 goes through March. The earliest I have seen a reference to a Mulvaney commercial is April 3rd. lets check these numbers in June/July and see how they look.
I got crickets when I brought up the same thing.

You’re pointing to 1st quarter results as proof that a 2nd quarter sales hit has had no impact?

What the hell.. what is the I and A for now?! I can’t keep up.

I genuinely can’t tell if this is satire or not.
It’s not.

Admittedly, they are for the most part preferences. But we all have our own preferences/opinions, likes and dislikes.

The two that are different are Intersex, which is very real, and Trans which is just something wholly different from the others.

Intersex and Asexual.

2SLGBTQIA+ is the most inclusive depiction you’ll see widely today.

two spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, plus.

I'm pretty sure there will be more additions until they run out of letters.

I said that they should rebrand/change the name weeks ago. Take a break for a few months. Return in time for a Super Bowl ad to help rebrand and move on. Bud Light is a toxic, polarizing brand at this point.

The AB distributor I used to work for had to lay some people off today. First time in over 25 years.

I don’t see this letting up anytime soon. Way too many substitute products with the same price point. This was a huge mistake.

I hate that for the low level people that had nothing to do with this.
