Volnation loses a faithful fan and beloved father

Sorry for your loss. Hope your family makes it through with the same strength as the 98 championship team.

I'm sorry for your loss brother. I cannot imagine what it feels like to lose a parent. Thank the Lord I still have both of mine. I don't get to see them that often now that I live 2 states away but when I do....I do not take those times for granted. God Bless you my friend.

Man it's threads like these that make me proud to be a Vol fan. The out pouring of support in this thread is awesome.

To the OP, it's never easy losing a loved one and even more so when you are close to them. Just remember all the good times you had with your dad and know that he is smiling down on you and watching over from above.

Thoughts and prayers to you and your family is this hard time.

Prayers for the family and sorry for the loss went thru it myself in late 2012. You will never forget but it will get easier

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Last night around 10:30pm my father passed away from a massive heart attack.

He was a lifelong Vol fan and read nearly every thread posted here daily. We would often read every article in the morning, and Tony Basilio's blog and then discuss the upcoming season together. He loved the Vols and we watched many games together over the years. I will cherish these moments and memories for the rest of my life.

He was looking forward to this football season and believed that Butch Jones was the best coach that we could have gotten. He was truly excited to watch the games with his boys in the fall.

He was 62 years old when he passed. He was married to my mother for 40 years and was the only woman he ever knew. He leaves Momma, his 5 boys and 6 grandchildren behind who all loved him dearly.

I'm grateful for all the joy that you all have brought him over the years and he will be sorely missed.

Here is a few photos from last fall at the Missouri game with him and all of his sons together. It almost seems like a great farewell, that the only time all of the boys could watch a football game together in one place would be the last.

I miss you Daddy.

Sorry for your loss and my God provide comfort to you and your family.

Very sorry to hear of your loss. Praying God will ease your family's pain and grief.

So sorry for your loss. May the Peace that passes all understanding be with you and your family.

Go rest high on that mountain, dad.

With my dad being the same age and me still calling him "Daddy" as well, this grips my heart bad. I pray that your mom and family will be able to rejoice in the love and life you had with him.

Sorry about the loss of your father. No matter how old our loved one are or how old we are, losing a loved one never gets any easier. You will always have your memories that you and your father shared. I believe our loved ones will live on in our memories.

So sorry man. This is a reminder to cherish the time with your loved ones, particularly your parents if you're fortunate to still have them. You never know when they'll get snatched away. Put away those petty differences if they exist and talk to them, visit with them, and give them a hug every chance you get.
