Vols Basically Killing Each Other in Practice According to Rucker.

I disagree that Pearl is a liability. He plays hard, makes a couple of defensive plays a game, and when he has to he can score. Him playing is the least of UT's problems.

Did you not see Mississippi St refuse to guard him in his 11 minutes last week? His presence on the floor forces our offense to play 4 on 5.

You appear to know everything. The problem is, a lot of what you know is wrong.

Stephen Pearl is a liability. The only reason to play him is because the other options are greater liabilities. The same is true for McBee. Bone isn't as big of a negative, but certainly isn't producing positively, either. There is a reason all of those guys were walk-ons, and when they are playing in front of people with more ability, there is a problem with either getting ability out of those players or in choosing who gets playing time.

No, I don't. I responded to your first smartass comment. You then tell me I'm wrong, but just verified what I said about Hall in the above statement regarding Pearl. Which is it? SP is the only viable option at 4 right now to back up Harris. You just said it yourself.

No I didn't. I said that if those highly touted recruits are not as good as Pearl, McBee, and Bone, then there is something wrong. You chattered on about something regarding high post defense and perimeter playing power forwards as proof that you know plenty.

Look, I know a solution. Why don't we just put each other on mute, and then you can go on about the quality of adidas shoes, Kenny Hall's high school competition, and the impossibility of detecting college ability in 18 year olds uninterupted. You can be expert on any subject you want, and I'll leave it to those who either don't know any better or who don't mind drivel to read it.

Deal?

So Kenny Hall can guard the 4 on the perimeter? He can hedge on the high ball screen? He can switch when necessary and guard a smaller player? He can handle the ball when needed? Kenny Hall is a 5 who needs a mean streak, some hands, some weight, and to not drop the ball to his knees to gather himself for a putback. I know plenty.
Kenny Hall is athletically suited to do each of those first three things a whole hell of a lot better than the current starter at the 4.

"If any of you ****ers guard him, I'm pulling your scholarship."

End of story. His athletic ability is plenty. Hell, we don't have anyone that hedges and recovers properly and our 4 is currently our worst. Why in the hell would our 4 be asked to step out and defend more than rarely?

Something is amiss in all that talk.

I'm assuming this is an actual quote of Stansbury?
No, another SEC coach. However, BPV has it right. Since KO had his guys play 15 feet off Pearl and made a mess of UT's offense, pretty much every coach has stated a variation on that theme.

Will someone please tell me why every thread discussing what is wrong with this team leads back to either steven pearl or skyler mcbee? Could any of the problems that our team is facing right now possibly be anyone elses fault? I totally agree that offensively steven is challenged. Hell he would agree with that but if any of u guys think he is the biggest problem then u need to get ur heads examined.

I suppose you can produce some of these posts where someone in this thread says Pearl is the team's biggest problem.

I knew that that's been the plan every time Pearl steps on the floor. I was just curious if you actually heard a coach say that. That's actually a pretty classic line.

I don't think he's a terrible game coach, and I don't think he's a bad recruiter. I do think he really struggles developing what he has. And most of that is because of the offensive system, or lack thereof, that we run.

This. Well said, my friend...couldn't agree more.
