Vols better suited for NIT?

The OP isn't asking if it would be better that we make a run in the NIT instead of going to the tournament. He's asking if you think it would be more beneficial for us from an experience and chemistry-building perspective to play probably at least 2 or 3 games in the NIT as opposed to probably 1 in the NCAA Tournament. I know anything can happen but if things go as they are supposed to which would be more beneficial? A deep run in the NIT or one and done in the NCAA Tournament?
Anybody would be better fit for nit its a weaker bracket.

Exactly the point I was trying to make. Thanks!

With a young team who lacks confidence on the road, I think this team would be better suited for NIT. Get a couple of home games, build confidence and hopefully make it to the Garden.

That is exactly correct......if we don't make the NCAA!!! LOL

Funny but...how do you think CCM views the PRTL since they don't play defense. Think that will change this year?

The kids love it.....its good for the fans.....its good for the kids to play some more organized pick up games......I doubt coach Martin is relying on the rocky top league to coach his team.

But as my ole daddy used to say...you can't be a plow horse one day and a race horse the next. Bad practice makes bad habits!

I'd say I follow college basketball more than most on this board.
As you saw Friday, neutral site means nothing for this team.
They're a one and done in the NCAA and a contender because of the home games in the NIT.
We need experience more than we need a mercy f*** from the NCAA committee.

The experience of playing in the NCAA far exceeds the benefits of playing more than 1 game in the NIT.

Here's my take...

NOBODY KNOWS WHAT THE TEAM WILL DO IN THE NCAA OR NIT...

They could go in the NCAA and lose 1st round like last years team, or they could be a Cinderella like VCU last year.

Or

They could go in the NIT get embarrassed by a mid major, possibly at home, and leave a sour taste on the season. Or they could go on a run and beat a good team in MSG and win the NIT.

You just don't know what will happen and it's all hypothetical. The effect of being a Cinderella far outweighs the effect of being a NIT champion. You take the NCAA everyday of the week, because NO PROFFESIONALLY COACH OR ATHLETE is going in saying oh were gonna lose first round in the NCAA let's just go NIT.

Where do you think Iona and Drexel would rather go? They'll most likely be one and done, but could be serious NIT contenders. Do you think they'd prefer the NIT?

Yes, you are right. We prefer the NCAA. What time are they announcing?

What do you think they during the off season.....they play pick up games all the team....it keeps them in basketball mode in shape working on certain things......they don't practice the team oriented skills that Martin puts in until they have official practices....
