Vols 'can point to' NFL draft return in recruiting

I don't think I'm doing either one. I think Butch is a hard worker that put in the work to fix Dooley just clocking in during his tenure.

He's just sadly in over his depth, and treading water now.

So instead of making a post of a positive nature, which this thread was created to highlight, you chose to do a complete 180 and try to destroy any positive emotion that UT might have by showing that we will probably have 4 or 5 guys drafted this year. You say, "To heck with the good stuff. Look at what Butch has failed at. That's what we need to focus on."

I won't come down in the muck with you and you can't make me.

If only he was better at the coaching aspect of his job, he'd be a great fit here.

The other aspects is immaterial fluff and won't matter, if he doesn't start winning at a higher level.

Why don't you call him and give him some pointers. Coaches all make mistakes. Who do you propose we bring in should Butch be fired. Jesus ain't gonna take the job so whoever you bring in is gonna have flaws. What does your short list look like for HC at UT?

Lol. At least you now have what you think is a viable excuse when he's not drafted high nor has even a decent NFL career at running back.

No. What I meant by poor decision making is if he actually goes thru with this moronic change of position idea.

If he enters the NFL as a RB, regardless of where he is drafted, he'll be a success. He's a NFL star at RB.

He wasn't a star RB in college. No chance that happens in the NFL, just doesn't have the talent/skills.

As far as his position change, why do you think he's planning on it? Could it be he's gotten some unfavorable scouting reports/feedback regarding his prospects at that position in the NFL? I heard one member of the media that covers the team mention that, don't recall who.

Clearly, if Jalen is planning on changing positions, HE doesn't agree with your assessment about how good an NFL RB he can be.

No coach is a guarantee and anyone that expects Butch to be on Saban's level after year four with the rebuild he has had to undertake is delusional. We are all disappointed with how the season ended but the last thing we need right now is another HC change. Stability. Assistant coaches and potential players all want stability. Hopping from coach to coach at the first sign of adversity is a losing recipe IMO.

Cause he doesn't seem like a very bright kid. He did just quit on his team in the middle of the season putting himself unnecessarily in a position to have his football character questioned for the foreseeable future.

I don't claim to understand this kid's thought process. His decision making is questionable at best.

Underlying circumstances you aren't privy to is why he quit IMO and it has to do with playing the game not this team.

You guys are crazy. A former 5 star player that was very productive in college isn't going undrafted. "Quitting" will hurt him a little but he will definitely be taken.

He has to learn his new TE position first at his new team after he sits out a year to find himself.

Has Hurd signed with an agent yet?

Curious as who Dobbs, Sutton, and Kamara signed with?

Know DB7 signed with Rosenhaus.

Or, like has been reported/mentioned, he got bad feedback from scouts on his NFL prospects as a RB. Best thing the kid does is catch a football and block imo. Perhaps he saw the writing in the wall and at least one of his decisions was sound.

We agree his decision to quit was foolish at best.

Please provide a link to that. Cause I haven't seen or heard that mentioned anywhere else.

Seeing as how Hurd hasn't declared or asked to speak with other schools, any chance he might try to plead his way back on the team as an H-back or TE?

That knock he took against Georgia probably did have a lot to do with it. Compare that little defensive back to the ones he would have to see in the NFL and I'd be taking a second look at what I wanted to do.

Not defending Hurd as he's a quitter in my book...however, you can't make that statement about a little DB hitting him so hard and compare it to what he will get in the NFL. The only reason that hit looked so bad is because he had relaxed and thought no one was near him. Let that guy hit him and Hurd expect it, and the outcome is probably the DB on the ground.
