i think the first team defense is so much better coached than last year.

considering they've had so many different DCs and head coaches and they were the worst statistically in UT history last year but have come back and really made strides shows just how great the current coaches on D are.

this is the same defense that could not make ANY STOPS. yes florida got on a roll rushing today a little towards the end but the defensive front really did a great job today for the most part.

what really, really hurts us is as the game wears on and we are putting walk-ons on the field.

Posted in multiple threads before this..... If we lose the games we're "supposed" to lose it comes down to the last four games of the season, all of which are winnable. We win those and we're 7-5 and bowling......

When MTSU is playing the best ball in the state that shows u how dire the situation is. UT is playing really bad and Vandy looks like crap too. Florida turned the ball over 4 times. Their starting qb is out for the year. Several other players got hurt and one of their best defenders was ejected. Butch Jones doesn't have much to work with but leaving Peterman in the game when he's turning the ball over on every possession is bad coaching!

Only on Volnation does losing to #3 Oregon and #19 Florida equate to the Vols having no chance against Auburn, Mizzou and Vandy and toss up with Kentucky.

Have any of you guys watched other teams like Vandy play? It's not good. Much worse than our Vols. Wake up people.

I still say we win 8. Maybe we need a bowl win to get us the 8th, but I think we get there. The QB controversy is over for now, and I actually thought Worley showed some improvement. Hell, as a whole we showed bits and pieces of improvement. You guys gotta remember our lack of talent vs the competition these last couple games. We don't win in any category on paper against FLA. But this team is slowly but surely coming together under Butch. I wasn't totally disappointed yesterday. Yes we had a first half meltdown and a guy who hadn't even lettered made us look stupid all day. We are coming though. I saw something in that Tennessee team yesterday. I can't put my finger on it but I came away feeling at ease about our situation.

I can put my finger on it. We knocked out Driskel in the 1st quarter and then one of their most important DBs was ejected from the game, making their defense totally inept and UT blew maybe the best chance Tennessee has ever had to beat Florida.

With our offense being what it is, I think we win next week and we beat Kentucky. I'm pretty sure that may be all of the winning Butch Jones does with these sorry bunch of kids.

It's not the fact that they lost that equates to losing those games. Its HOW they lost. Total ineptitude a la Derek Dooley style failure to the 10th degree.

Vandy is playing like crap but they still put up points. If Vandy and UT played right now Vandy would win! Tennessee's offense is as bad as the defense was last year.

I guess Derek Dooley wasn't really the whole problem at Tennessee.

Butch Jones at UT looks pretty much like Derek Dooley at Tennessee.

I didn't see total ineptitude yesterday. We had too many turnovers but the defense played decent and kept us in the game especially in the first half. Palardy has looked good. Worley gave us a spark on offense in the second half. Vols will be ok when we aren't playing the #3 defense and #1 offense in the country in back to back weeks.

Vandy put up 24 points on UMass and Tennessee put up 17 on Florida's defense. Your post is major FAIL.

In case you didn't know Florida defense was ranked #3 in the nation. UMass defense is ranked terrible. So there is that.....

Also, Worley didnt do well at all until Florida's DB was ejected and their defense had to shift positions. Only then did we get some wide open chances. That was not improvement, it was taking advantage of epic bad luck for Florida.

Peterman did not play winning football and put us in a hole. Defense kept us in it though. Florida has 4 DB's that would all start for us and most SEC teams so that's just a bunch of Whiney excuses. Heck you negavols are making excuses for Worleys decent play now. Lol

They scored 34 on Ole Miss and 25 on S. Carolina both top 25 teams. UT scored 10 on a Florida defense that was missing some guys. The other 7 points came on a pic 6 from the defense. Your post is a major fail!

No dude with the offensive talent we had last year in Bray, CP and Hunter who were all JR'S and left to play in the NFL and another NFL player in Rivera if our D holds every team to 31 points we probably win 8 or 9 games last year.
