Look horrible against Massachusetts in general. It was 10-7 going into the 4th quarter.

Got blown out by South Carolina, the score is irrelevant. At one point, it was 28-0 in the 2nd quarter and 35-10 going into the 4th quarter.

Exactly, and Mizzou has prob had the weakest Div 1 schedule to date this yr. They should truely be embarrassed by teams they play outside of the SEC. Au is also a beatable team we get at home. Their D is pretty bad. AU is lucky to not be 1-3. We will be improved by time we get to those games that are make and break as far as helping decide our bowl fate.

Some of it has to do with the two defenses UT has faced. We know that UF is very good... and to me Oregon looked better within the context of their scheme.

USCe has the best D player in the country and a very good DL overall... one deep. They have holes in the back 7 and little depth. The Vols ability to handle their QB will be the pivot point. USCe is not as good as either of the last two teams on D... neither is UGA or Aub.

IF... the coach can coach the kids up and get improvement then O results will get better. The game this week should really help get some things straightened out.

Gordon quit which still mystifies me. There were a few good players left but not much depth.

But in reality... that's what you get when you replace a coach fired for performance- a roster with thin spots. That's also why you get paid millions... to coach over thin spots and get the most out of your roster you can as soon as you can. This is a 7 or 8 win roster if he does that and can outcoach mid-tier SEC coaches.

I have a hard time seeing a 7 or 8 win roster, when you have to play Alabama, Oregon, and Florida on the road, and still have to play Georgia and So. Carolina, both in the top 10. You have 5 losses pretty much guaranteed. That means you have to run the table against Auburn, Missouri, Vandy, Kentucky, and the other 3 out of conference foes to get to 7 wins. Tennessee would have to win some on the road against decent , not great, opponents to do that.

We lose 2 games that we were expected to lose and we're ripping our coaches. ENOUGH. Maybe u people need to realize how bad our program is right now.

I think that's our problem though. Now we look at the schedule and mark all the games we expect to lose. Then when we do we're supposed to say - oh well, guess I can't be mad, we were supposed to lose all those games anyway.
We are now justifying mediocrity.

Still more disappointed in the showing at Oregon than the loss. UF was a blown opportunity for Jones to get his first signature win.

This is the equivalent of saying that UT hired a coach that will need to be replaced in '15. Not saying there's no chance of that coming true... but this is a 7 or 8 win roster if Jones gets the best out of it.

It is not. Six will be a excellent season. Our talent is at the bottom of the SEC right now. Sad that some posters live in a fantasy world with to touch on reality.

Step away from the ledges guys! I think CBJ will start to turn these guys around before seasons end..and we finish with easier games anyway. We get to a bowl and nail down a solid class and we will be turning a corner. We beat mizzou, vandy and uk! GBO!

IMO rankings don't matter until the end of the season. I don't think Ole Miss is that good but we should see this week. I am not wearing blinders. Vandy has not looked any better than us. Guess we will just have to wait to see but I am very confident that my Vols will handle Vandy. And I don't think it will be that close.

It is never merely about which games we expect to win or lose. It HOW we lose them that makes people so negative. Nobody expected us to beat Oregon, but people also didnt expect us to look like blithering idiots no better than an FCS school.

Most people didnt expect us to beat Florida, but people did expect us to capitalize on a game that was gift wrapped for us.

Its not about the W/L results. Its about how we got there. And Butch Jones was SUPPOSED to be a coach that could take piss poor talent and coach them up to at least LOOK like a respectable team, even if they ended up losing games. This is not happening.

Actually the offense cannot score. Sorry but go back and check the numbers. With out an offense the defense is even more exposed. So without points how do you win SEC games ? Is the defense going to have to get two pick 6s a game ?

Where in the hell is the short 5 yd passes, slants, screens etc. Were still trying to throw 15 yo 25 yd passes down the field with inexperienced receivers and sub par Qtbs.Who in the Sam hill is calling these plays.

I don't understand why people think a freshman is going to be a magic bullet. I was at the UCLA game in the early 90's when they stuck Manning in and he pretty much sucked.

I can see TN going 5-7 , 6-6 or 7-5

We have 5 winnable games remaing .

GA, Bama and SC all will be tough to win.
