Vols hire Chaney per Multiple Sources

One thing definitely good about this hire is that it was late. Everyone is shuffled and UGA has slim pickings unless they poach another team. Fir some reason, I think they come out on top though

I love UGA fans. The never lose, they never fail. It's all part of the 'plan' for NEXT YEAR.....

From DawgNation:

"Have a hard time imaging them poaching someone we really wanted to keep. Was he quietly encouraged to look at other opportunities?"

Lots of re-quotes and agreement with that post. Typical annoying as heck UGA fans. I am looking so forward to owning them again. UGA fans are the most arrogant, condescending, passive aggressive bunch of whinny-&^% pansies in college football.
Yea that’s why GA offered him 1.5 million. They didn’t want him.(blue font of course)

Was Chaney the only one retained from Kiffin staff when Dooley came in? Then again, Kiffin basically took everyone with him to USC. Did he not want Chaney at USC or was Chaney not interested? Anyone know the story there?

Fields left him and THAT was a biggy. Why? Fromm has had two years to get it done, is he going to miraculously get better than Tua by next year? No. So now Kirby has nowhere to go but with the retread Fromm. He's better than many others out there, but he's not a NC QB.

Dabo had a good QB last year, one that almost beat the Tide. He took a look at him in year two, saw no big improvements, knew he needed a change if he wanted to win the NC. Made change and upgraded the QB position, trounced the Tide.

People that know, have figured it out, Kirby is not placing a NC in the trophy case in Athens especially if he trots out Fromm as QB in year 3.
People are not giving that Clemson D enough credit though. They was very tuff too

I'm NOT the one doubting CJP's ability to develop a defense. But sir, did you notice UGA's defense last year in the NC game against Bama? And what did Kirby's D get him this year?

His pathetic OC stunk it up at LSU and got his D gassed....same with TX in bowl game....same with Bama in the SEC championship...

It's why Kirby and crew were not interested in extending their time with Cheney. They are at least smart enough to realize that Cheney hit his ceiling and had nowhere to go but down.
So that is why it became a BIDDING war to try to keep him which UT won? And dude... It will still take UT a couple years to get the offensive and defensive development related to depth and lack of talent.. and name me one team this year that didn't have struggles on offense in a game.. Just one...

Kirby Smart is a more likable person on the surface than Jeremy Pruitt based solely on what we get from TV exposure and media interaction. I bet Jeremy Pruitt can be a real horse’s a$$ behind closed doors. He definitely isn’t the friendliest coach during press interviews.

I am not sure how it translates to working for him though.
Players from previous stop love him so...

I don’t necessarily agree with this. If someone comes in like Trevor Lawrence did with Clemson, knocking Kelly Bryant out of the starting position, the same thing could happen at TN with JG.

He may be. I am just hoping someone better beats him out for the starter. And I still believe they will. But if Pruitt thinks jg gives is the best chance to win I am fine with that. Neither of us knows how good the other 2 qb are. Not seen them play one snap at ut

If true, we got a good one. SEC experience. Good resume'. No OC wins every game, or calls the right play every time.

Jim Chaney is a solid OC. UT would be / will be a better team with him in the booth. Perhaps more importantly, Pruitt can be / should be a better HC is he'll let Chaney do what he does best.

It's a win / win. If you're a Vol fan, I don't see how you're not happy with this news.

Go Vols.

He’s 2x the offensive coordinator he was in 2012. That being said I think he is a very good hire.

If we hire him to help with the passing game in some capacity I think it would be fine. But man, can you imagine adding his recruiting ability to this staff?! Would be nuts.

I would love that but tee has said only way he come back to ut is for hc

I think Chaney went to Pitt for year and then to Arkansas (under Bielema) before landing at Georgia.
