Listening to a segment by Dave Hooker this morning, they discussed that the football program held a players only meeting on Sunday that was spearheaded by the leadership on the team.

Apparently JM3 took responsibility for the dropped passes in a positive light, no pointing fingers, and all players have agreed its time to amp it up to a whole new level, as they admitted this past week was pretty laid back.

Hopefully this refocuses the team and they get back to keeping their heads on straight. I do believe this is a positive and shows the true leadership the team possesses.

Milton has his issues, wrs need to take accountability for the drops also though. Leadership seems to be much better this year; if we had that last year we were a playoff team. Idk if we have as much talent on the offense though; Hooker was just so good at the QB position.

Say what you want about Milton, but the one thing he’s proven is he is a great teammate. He took getting replaced by Hooker with grace and continued to support his teammates. I’m sure he owned up to some of his passes, and handled the drops by the receivers professionally. It’s a good sign they’re meeting about this

This is a good opportunity to get back to basics. Do the little things. I think The Gators are going to load the box and make Joe beat them. The throws are going to be there, Joe has a great opportunity to shut everyone up Saturday night.

this can be interpreted a few different ways. Either it’s a positive and shows good leadership or it’s a sign for trouble having a meeting 2 games in while sitting 2-0. I lean towards leadership
I agree. Rather have accountability now after a win than after a loss. Sounds like Milton is very self aware that he needs to fix some things.

I do think it’s very “awkward” to try to do a very vanilla game plan of short passes and handoffs etc. It’s almost like asking a guy to take a Lamborghini and only drive five miles an hour in it. I’m hoping once we play Florida the offense looks and feels more in a rhythm for the players.

My take, much better to have a players only meeting to try and clean things up after a win and before they cost you a game than to have one AFTER a loss to try and salvage the remainder of the season.
As Long as no one trips over a helmet or steps on the T in the locker room, we‘re good 😉

This is absolutely correct. If there’s one aspect of him you cannot question it’s that he’s the role model for being a teammate. I don’t see a huge future as a pro player but I’d like to see him become a great football coach. Anybody in any role inside or outside football can benefit from following Joe’s leadership and teaming.

I see this as a positive. Maybe a time they can discuss any items that need to be tweaked in any aspect of the game. From this fans perspective, I fully support this team. There are some things from the Austin Pee game that can be cleaned up, but overall I saw a Vols team that played hard from start to finish on both sides of the ball. But you have all week to practice and get ready for the Swamp. You still have the full season ahead and just know the fans support you

which is the exact opposite of what the last two teams have done. The long ball will be there and we have all seen Milton execute it beautifully.

This is good news to hear if the meeting was spearheaded by Milton. I've become a bit critical of his lack of in-game encouragement and communication with receivers on the sideline.

Time to gear up and come together this week. Everyone hold each other accountable to a high standard. No being vanilla with each other.

IMO, this kills the whole "Heupel didn't open the playbook garbage. The players know the performance wasn't up to the standard. These meetings can be productive if you have strong leadership on the team. Otherwise, things can tend to go sideways.

If they don’t stack the box it could be death by a thousand paper cuts gashing them with Wright, Small and Sampson or the quick hitters to the boundary.

If I’m Florida I stack the box and make Milton beat them over the top. I think we run a few plays early that have led to big gains in the pastthat are easy throws. We hit Florida on one to McCoy last year and we hit UK twice on the same play to Hyatt. Easy throws and reads and get Joe’s confidence up.

Josh Heupel’s crush with Milton has me concerned…It took an injury in 2022 before he was forced to play one of the greatest players in UT history.
Coaches fall in love with potential. This is also situational though as well. You’ve got a true freshman behind Milton as your best option. Are you more confident playing a true freshman at the swamp than Milton who beat Clemson when we actually schemed and prepped for them specifically?

This will be an entirely different offense than we’ve seen the past two games. May be a disaster or it maybe more in line with what we saw vs Clemson.

Players only meeting, yet the media has all the details. Either there's a blabber mouth on the team that can't be trusted, or this is conjecture.
