That's my point. Memphis and Ole Miss are comparable in some ways, with Memphis getting the edge. Why did Tennessee drop from the earth in an OT loss to Ole Miss, but Marshall gets trucked by Memphis and barely any fall?

Memphis is a much better team than Ole Miss. C'mon.

The biggest downfall for Marshall will be conference record and finishing number five overall.

Marshall is 9-7 in conference and beat the #19 RPI team (important to the committee I gather) twice. I've never heard anything supporting your contention that the committee cares where a team finishes in conference, or even looks at it. They're 4-5 against the top 50.

The only 2 on this list I see having an argument over Tennessee is USF and Marshall.

Good thing the committee is using kenpom and not RPI.

What is USM kenpom? How about Marshall?

FWIW Tennessee kenpom is also higher than USF.

Again, watch a game, you'll change your mind.

I've picked a bad sample to choose from. The only games I've watched of Memphis were the wins against Tennessee, Southern Miss and Xavier. I've watched them lose to Michigan, Georgetown and Louisville.

Both USM and Marshall around 50 or 60.

The committee didn't say they were completely getting rid of RPI, just supplementing with sag/pom.

They beat Xavier pretty well, and Xavier is a tourney team, as is USM.

Most of the losses came in December, we're a much better team since then.

No they said they are looking at kenpom first, and putting the most weight on it.

Even saw something where RPI would be thrown out the window and not looked at at all.

Exactly. You say they beat #19 RPI USM, not nearly impressive as the committee will see it as beating #71(to correct you)kenpom USM twice.

Compare that with UT 3 top 20 kenpom wins.

If you're going to hang your hat there, you'll have to concede that 2 of those wins came at TBA. UT isn't exactly the same team away from home.

I haven't heard anything like that. I'd like to read what their parameters are this season if someone has the link. I've heard all kinds of stuff.

That's fine point is still the same though, and still says UT has a top 20 win in a hostile environment, while Marshall has 0 top 20 wins period.

I'm not saying UT will get on over Marshall, I'm simply making the argument that I don't think it's cut and dry that Marshall is in over them.
