Hopson and Tatum were the least productive guys on the court--easily. I said it ten days ago: Pearl should be playing Williams more and the lanky, inexperienced far less. Hopson didn't make a jump shot in 28 minutes of play--same with Tatum in 17 minutes. You can't win like that.

Do you realize what positions Tatum and Hopson play?

75% from the charity stripe would of been enough to win, free throw shooting stunk !!!

How big was that three pointer at the end of the half? What really pissed me off is that both Prince and Hopson were right there, but they were too lazy to jump up and put a hand in the shooter's face. They had already checked into halftime.

Vols lost this game because free throws, it was pretty much even everywhere else.

good point, i guess prince & hopson was in "dont foul mode", the guy had a good look & drained it, but it would of been irrelevant if we could of made a few more free throws, just plumb horrible from the stripe

You are correct, the free throw line killed us. I wish Prince was in the don't foul mode later in the second half when he fouled a three point shooter who made all three free throws. That is 6 points right there due to Prince's shaky defense. I like Prince, but those were two pretty dumb defensive plays imo.

Guard play has hurt us the entire season. Hopson and Tatum playing like high school juniors.

UT had the ball and missed their last shot, that's why they lost. It was a good look at the basket, he just missed it, leave it at that!

With all of the athletes on this team, at what point is it fair to blame the players for lack of effort in practicing their shots? We routinely miss layups and FTs, and we don't have anybody that can regularly fill it up past the 3pt arc. Part of it is natural ability, but part isn't. I remember hearing recently about the NBA player (?) that shot several hundred+ shots per day during the offseason to improve his game. Do these guys do that?

from Link
We are (thru 1/22):
265th in 3-pt%
81st in FG%
126th in FT%

separate issue, but..
260th in 3-pt% defense
214th in turnovers/game

The ball should have gone to Chism every time down the floor... Really poor shooting but everything else seemed fine to decent today

These two teams were extremely evenly matched. The difference....we can't make a 3 or our free throws. Chism did a great job....just has to sit the bench too much for foul trouble. Hate to lose at home...now we know how Memphis felt last year.
