Vols lost this game because...

A little intensity ....too much to ask?
Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas smiled more on the basketball court than any other players in the history of the sport. They were both as competitive and intense as any players in the history of the sport. Countenance is a bad indicator of intensity.

Can't believe some people are complaining about Hopson's minutes. Tatum has been the one player, other than Prince (in a few areas), that has been worse defensively and has made just as many dumb turnovers.. plus he's bad at FTs and is shooting worse. They're both playing bad so there's not much other option.

IDK, to me it seems like "free throws" are an easy excuse when you lose. Either you didn't get enough fouls called, or you didn't make enough at the stripe. . . . Problem is, teams win all the time and make fewer FTs than the loser.

The reason that we lost the game was simply because we couldn't do anything on offense. 52 points in a Bruce Pearl system will not win very often. We had no less than THREE possessions to win at the end of the game and got nada.

I think part of that was the TIGER defense

I'd put $20 on those odds.

That was an exaggeration but $20? Not very confident are you? Plus I was talking game situations.. you add in fatigue and pressure and its not easy guarded or not.

I guess VANDY has a great defense too - the same Vandy defense that just got scorched by Florida today. As will LSU after wednesday. Tigers defense is good - but that wasn't the issue with Tennessee's offense. We haven't played the Tigers all year long so that's obviously not the constant variable in the sitaution. Get real.

Why did we not stay with what was working. Chism could do anything he wanted to in the paint. MPS did not have a answer for him, but still we run him to the perimater for a 3. If they double teamed him BW and Tyler were there for the put back. Free throws lost the game with about 100 other things. Pearl was not the coach I thought he was. Let's see what he calls for the rest of the close games. Heck I called that better than pearl did and just a arm chair coach.:hi:

You won, and congratulations. Never did I undermine UM's defensive effort. However, when you get three chances to win the game down the stretch, at home, you better capitalize. We didn't and we lost.

Clutch for great shooters. Luck for the others like Anderson.

Clutch means you come through at crunch time , AA did it in the tournament 3 times and 2 times this year . Get real bassman , Texas A&m - Ucla - Tulsa - UAB - TN. He's not the best offensive player on the floor , but it's far from luck to win these games in the end . He wants the opportunity to win it .

Ok then, $20 was an exaggeration. :boxing2:

And you are now adding in variables that were not in play (fatigue and pressure). Was it a gimme? No. It wasn't exactly a 3/4 court length shot either.

How was there no pressure and fatigue going into that shot? Sure - he wasn't drained - but its not like he had been on the bench the whole time.

So the other 4 times he shot an desperate attempt from almost half court? Stop being so stupid on this issue. The kid wouldn't make that shot 95% of the time.

I'm not saying he's a bad player or isn't any good. But to actually give him props saying he practices that all the time and would make that consistently because he's clutch is just ignorant.

They could've forced a shot from mid court but they let him drive within 30' of the basket then didn't attempt to defend him. WHY ?
