Actually I think they were within the written rule of 3 yards
It is, rule states a couple scenarios but ineligible down penalty is more than 3 yards from the neutral zone and does not make contact with an opponent, that where I think the call was made on Davis because he wasn't engaged or making contact with an opponent.

That’s simply not true. They replayed that live and the announcers both said they may have been a couple yards past the LOS but the penalty was ticky tack, probably a mercy call.
The ball was on the 43 but I went to school in Orme so your math might be better than mine

Frankly the thought of playing the starters in this game is not even appealing to me. Kent State is epically bad.

Starters play 1st half only, IMO, Unless Heuple wants to get more practice in. Nico played the first half vs Chatt, and Kent isn't much better than the Mocs.

Could be perfect for the lead-up to Oklahoma. Better than a bye week, and less taxing than a higher tier opponent. Probably, Gaston will get some needed reps and our key play makers will be able to rest after a few reps. Yeah, I think this is perfect as long as everyone stays healthy.

Ah Ha! You gots it!

To us. To the Kent State's of the world. It's a program lifesaver.

We do get to focus on fundamentals, get a lot of guys reps, get a lot of guys who may never play otherwise, reps...lotsa +++++

The only negative to playing a Kent State type team is that you could potentially get a Chuck Webb type injury.................

Some fans don't understand that you can't play competitive teams every week with an 8 team sec schedule. This is a very good live in game practice opportunity.

It’s all about that check. I do hate investing in an out of state program.

For sure, play Teams instate, and keep the money here. However , there is some upside in scheduling teams from states like Ohio, expose the Big Orange Brand to more people, which could pay off in recruiting. "Man what an incredible experience we had down in Knoxville Tennessee." "They were very nice to us". I think that's the why.

Yea
When do Nico and 1s get pulled?

I’m hopeful 2s and 3s start getting reps in 1st half.
Yeah, this is what I'm thinking. Heading into the gauntlet ensuring everyone is well rested and recovering from minor injuries is going to be beneficial. Oklahoma, Arkansas, Florida, and Alabama is really the key stretch for this team. We can't take Arky on the road for granted - especially if we get by OU and start looking ahead to UF and Bama games. If we can get through these, then we're pretty much a shoe in for the playoff and perhaps even the SEC title game even if we lose the UGA game.

I would really like to see the 2's enter at some point in the second quarter - if not start at some positions - and 3's in the second half. And I would be ok only scoring 30 or 40 points to preserve our core two-deep.

The concept of "running up the score" is a curious one. Would it be respectful to take your foot off the gas so as not to hurt the feelings of others? Not to mention, the idea of second and third string not playing hard due to a high score they weren't involved in. Therefore, I think I am justified in predicting 80-0. Cut the check.
