Yeah, I think you are probably correct but given the score in last year's game I just couldn't call it a sure win for UF.

I think the score in last year's game is one of the reasons Florida will trounce them.

I think you and many others are giving the SC chickens way too much credit. IMO last year was more of a fluke and reality will set in this year. The cocks lose to UT, UF and UGA and finish a distant 4th and don't make a bowl. There will be a ton of visor tossing in Columbia this fall.

UGA is an unknown just as much as anyone this year. Who will be QB and they lost a ton of talent last year.

UF is the media darling again this year and will be until all realize that the O Urban Myth is running won't hack it in the SEC due to speed at the LB and DB's as well as the ends.

Yeah, it was a fluke. Spurrier never had any success against Tennessee and Georgia before.

Maybe, but the fact remains that they have a decent QB and a playmaker at WR. That's pretty much all Spurrier needs to make things interesting.

Florida was good before Spurrier got there.

Last 4 years before Spurrier's arrival:
26-21, three bowl appearances, Aloha, All American, Freedom

I wouldn't say that was "good."

Florida was pretty average pre-Spurrier. They had some good years in the 80s, but a lot of it was marred by NCAA violations and probation.

Brilliant analysis, yet again...

They were supposed to humble Bama in Tuscaloosa this past year...and the time before that...and the time before that...

What was your record in '04? It's amazing how cocky one decent season has made you guys. Enjoy the Swamp this year. If you want to put your money where your mouth is, I'll be more than glad to oblige you.

Why are you so high on alabama next year? There is no one on their roster I am aware of who was above a 3 star QB prospect. I have been to rivals and looked at who Alabama signed to play QB the last 3 years.

Shula not signing a major QB prospect the last 2 years is gonna bare fruit this year. UT has been in that position a few times. It wasn't pretty. The QB is the cornerstone of the offense, I dont see Alabama doing anything next year. You must think Alabama is gonna have one awesome defense and running game next seaon.

I do think it was a fluke. What SOS had at UF is way different than what he has with the cocks. We will beat them.

Not really. If I remember right in all the years SOS was coach at UF the team that rushed for more yards won the game all but 1 or 2 years.

yeah, but in a few of those UF wins, they got garbage rushing yards just running the clock out on us....a little deceptive that stat is.

i woulnd't call it a fluke because we were just plain bad in that game on offense.

as for your point on UGA, i agree....they got talent, but it is new talent...the qb position is a nail biter. they do have a loaded backfeild though.

and i'm glad UF is the media darling. it'll be interesting to see how that staff adjusts to being a favorite rather than alwasy being the little guy who could knock around with the big boys every now and then. Now he's one of hte big boys.....let's see if he can handle it.

Well jake I disagree about your assesment of the cocks. I think everything that could have gone right for them against the big boys went right for them. It won't happen again.

no, you're right....they did get some breaks, but any team that wins a game gets breaks....my point was we were just plain bad on offense...flukes to me usually represent some kind of funky type play or plays that directly impact the outcome of the game....

our own poor play on offense is what impacted the result of the game, imo....that's all.

I disagree somewhat with your disagreement. :D They did beat us and Florida, but they caught some bad breaks in narrow losses to UGA and Clemson and absolutely laid down in the 2nd half in their bowl game. They won 7 games and could have easily won 9 or 10 games.

I don't think they are necessarily going to be a perennial SEC contender, but I don't think they are going to revert back to being an also ran either.

Back on topic: PREPOSTEROUS!!! Tennessee finishes first in the East, wins the SEC, and gets squeezed out of the NC game in another "SEC-screwed-over" BCS debacle.

Hey, ya'll, try these on:

Does anybody else think that Georgia is a little overrated this coming season? I think second is a bit high for them. They will be very inexpereinced at qb this year. I see them finishing 3rd at best...
