Yes, of course I do. It had to be raised. Who wants to be known as a school that couldn't participate in a bowl because they couldn't keep their players eligible?
Which is why people are so happy (at least me.) People don't have to know how it's calculated to know it's a big deal that this got resolved as quickly as it did. Just my .02.
I want my kid in the best environment to be successful as an athlete and a student. That means I want a football program that cares about his academic success and surrounds him with other student athletes that value academics as well as athletics.OK, but if you are a parent of a student athlete that has maturity and intellegence to look at all aspects of a program, including academics, then the APR doesn't really matter to you. Your kid is going to go to class and get his degree. If UT recruits the kids you describe, their APR should be 1000.
The APR isn't focussing on the Josh Dobbs of the world. It's for the borderline student athletes. Here is what the APR is:
Each student-athlete earns one point for staying in school and one point for being academically eligible. A teams total points are divided by points possible and multiplied by 1,000 to produce the teams APR.
Isn't Dobbs in Aerospace Engineering? Do you really see him being academically ineligible during his playing time?
Where's the Fulmer cup? We were the winners and the reason for it's existence.
I get your rant but UT NEVER won the Fulmer Cup..And the reason it was named after Fulmer is because a smartazz sportswriter from another SEC beat decided it would sound cute after a lot of off the field issues came up..That's what I find so ironic..The Cup is named after a coach from a school that never won it...
I agree, glad you Understand the rant. It was Total sarcasm but only to provide a point. However there were a couple of years we did win. However for the majority of the years we did not even crack the top 10.
Point is that there is a night and day difference with this coach and staff.
Let me add one thing. Look back through this thread and find the posters that are questioning these scores in a negative manner. We don't need trolls some of our fans are our own worst enemies,
Again, UT has NEVER won the Fulmer Cup..Ever..As in, well, NEVER..It was started in 2006..To put this to rest, here are the winners which anybody could find with a simple Google search
