Vols Running Into The Perfect Storm (Literally & Figuratively)

That's likely to happen in this game. We gotta play above that. That's why we can't have a 12 play drive that ends in no points like we did at UGA. Every single drive matters. This game is about finishing drives with TD's for me. We can go up and down the field on anybody. Don't matter if we ain't getting 7.
Good point. We need to refrain from any questionable hits, if that is possible. At the least, no reason to retaliate in the event of chipiness from them.

My heart says will put out a win by field goal.

However, my gut tells me that OSU will win by a minimum of 10 pts.

Think about this: OSU has the talent (if not one of the best in the country) but never figured out how to put it altogether.

1.)Everyone and their uncle has trashed the program for the last month
2.) Coach on the brink of getting fired
3.) They're humiliated by their rival Mich.
4.) No one is given them a chance to win the Championship, when they were everyone's pick at the beginning of the season
5.) Media and fanbase has, literally, turned on them to the point where we're about to take over the horseshoe
6.) A lot of us Vol fans are under-estimating the cold weather. I seriously doubt we have a passing game, so we'll have to depend on our running game?
7) The Buckeyes are due for a breakout moment

I hope I'm wrong - my heart says the good-guys 24-20, however, my head says OSU is about to run the table and win the championship.
Untuck it hoss.

Vols are prepared, confident and loose,
Bucs will be cooked like a goose.

Vols jump to early lead with Sampson showing his might,
Nico lets the bombs fly and scrambles for first downs all night.

Vols Defense is stout, stingy and mean,
Bucs wonder if they are in a bad dream.

”coach you told us they can’t play in the cold,”
“coach you told us they can’t play on the road.”
”coach if I hear Old Rocky Top one more time,
”i‘m going to lose my mind”

Vols show they deserved to be the home team,
Now the Rose Bowl is next step to the dream.

I disagree. This is a match up between 2 top 5 scoring defenses. So I think points will be at a premium. A FG will mean a lot more this weekend then any other game we've played.
Our scoring defense ranking didn't matter when Georgia put up 31 with a QB that had been struggling. You gotta finish drives with TD's. The only way FG's beat OSU is if our defense plays its best game of the season.

Were you wearing your OSU jersey when you typed this?

UT will get their best shot probably of any game. UT doesn't get the give me games OSU gave Michigan or UGA gave Old Miss or Bama gave Oklahoma. They get the hardest, hardest game against UGA with their back against the wall, hardest against OSU after being humiliated, fans looking for blood. Hardest playoff path, with weaker teams getting better slots.. It is what it is. Probably an advantage being battle tested, knowing they will get no any give aways. But UT can win still if they execute at a high level, their best can beat anyone. I think they will.

Not sure how true it is, but the ticker tape running on ESPN says Tenn has lost the last 21 games vs top10 teams on the road. I hope we can break this trend . IMHO the defense will win this game for us if we win at all. Here's hoping JH can prepare the team for the biggest game he's had so far, and make adjustments during the game if we get behind.
The counter narrative is OSU is 1-13 against SEC opponents, losing their last attempt to Missouri last year in the Cotton Bowl. Each game is its own intrigue. We'll see how this one goes Saturday night! GBO

Part of me remembers JH teams looking like they were not prepared, and games where we never adjusted throughout the game. But another part of me remembers JH has broken some molds we been stuck in for some time and has brought this program from the dumps into being in the play offs. So I'm cautiously optimistic. I wished we were playing at home.

Yet ohio state has lost the last 13 of 14 games to the SEC. We're those all top ten teams? I doubt it

Before the season started a lot of people considered their roster to be the most talented in the country but at times they haven't played like they are.

And our offense has been inconsistent and hasn't lived up to expectations either.

I honestly don't know what to expect.

I guess you could say I'm like a politician....we could win big, they could win big or it might be close either way.

We got to stay in the game in the first quarter, we cant fall behind by 14 early or it will be a long cold night, take the crowd out of it and kick there azz in the third and 4th quarter.

What the fans and pundits are saying and doing doesn’t matter. When they put the football down, two teams will play to win. Yes, these two teams match up well. Both defenses are notable, and points will be dearly won. I do not doubt that the Vols will embody Neyland’s maxims, reset every play, and give their all for Tennessee. My the breaks go their way. GBO!

Even a mediocre QB is gonna pick you apart if you give him all day to throw like we did with Carson Beck. Georgia's O line played their best game of the year against Tennessee. Getting to Ohio State's QB is key. No different than any other game

I truly believe that there will be a bit more of what we saw in the Vanderbilt game. Nico started keeping the ball on the 100% play action to the running back. If there is a back in the backfield, the is always the motion of handing the ball off. The QBs even do that during routes on air. Their first motion is to always put out the ball to the right. For so long now, it has primarily been just a handoff or play action. When Nico kept it, the D was caught asleep every time. I am not talking every snap, but enough to pull some LBs up and some safeties down could be VERY advantageous for us.
