Vols stay at #7 in the playoff poll

Penn State, Texas, BYU, and Indiana have 0 quality wins between them.

I'm hoping OSU takes care of Indiana on 11/23 in a big way. If that is the case, IU will drop like Miami did as they will have 0 quality wins and a loss. BYU's biggest remaining challenge will also be on 11/23 when they play at Arizona State. Minnesota is the best team PSU has to face. If OSU wins out it will be a rematch between them and Oregon in the B1G championship game.

Given schedules - OSU, Oregon and PSU, unless Minnesota pulls an upset are in the playoffs. IU was pushed up to protect them - a close loss to OSU and there is no doubt the committee will try to keep them high enough, so they remain in. IU is this year's "feel good story".

For us to make the playoffs the following must happen:

- We must be at least the 4th highest ranked SEC team.
- We must be no lower than 11 coupled with NO upsets in the conference championship games.
- If there are upsets in the conference championship games we need to be in the top 10 and hope for only one upset in the Big 12 or ACC game.
- It would also help if Notre Dame would lose another one, but if they are really a top 10 team, they will beat the teams they have left.
- If we win out and make the SEC championship game - the worst we could be is a 2 loss team and we should make the playoffs. The committee would completely invalidate their reputation if they selected a 2 loss SEC team that did not make their conference championship game.

Go Vols! Beat Georgia!

CFP selection committee chair Warde Manuel thinks that's a big win for Indiana over a 5-5 Michigan.

By the way, Warde Manuel is the AD at Meechigan. 😂
How does this guy get on the committee after UM cheating scandal?

Utah is 4-5 and has lost 5 in a row! That is NOT a big win for BYU. Our loss is to a team that has a winning record (5-4). We beat Miss State just as bad as Texas did.

The Michigan game was at IU.

This makes absolutely NO SENSE.

I just don't understand why move up BYU and Indiana this week when we still win our game handedly. Utah got hosed out of a win and Indiana still hasn't played a team with a pulse. Penn State is the beneficiary of a weak schedule as well

Agree - they have a certain list of teams they want in and we are not one of them.
The committee chairman is a Michigan man. That's 100% going to lean in the B1Gs favor. They are definitely making the blueprint for the traditional SEC teams that have beaten them in big games play road environments. That's on their end.

As for media I think they always will print headlines which brings money in which unfortunately we don't bring as many eyes yet as the Bama brand. I will say ESPN game commentators have been very complimentary saying can you imagine a playoff game in Neyland Stadium at dozen times. So it's not everyone. I legitimately think the biggest bias is coming from the selection committee. They have bad blood and they want to make an example of the SEC And if Tennessee has to go up to Indiana, Penn State, Ohio State or Oregon it won't satisfy them the same way.

Somebody is staying home. And I am not referring to a bye. That’s the whole point of the discussion.
Tennessee is 7th. Unless they get absolutely blown out to GA or they fall to Vandy, they are in. 13th and beyond stay at home. Sorry that you moved the goal-post mid conversation, but that is not my problem.

The only placement that matters is top 12 and the AP ranking is 100% pointless at this point. Teams that win conferences get a first round bye. That was my point and you came in with...
"wHaT?"
As if I said something out of left field and then you tried the "i WaSn'T tAlKiNg AbOuT wHaT yOu WeRe SaYiNg," then why comment at all if you were not going to stay on topic? The top 12 is all that matters to get into the playoffs. Conference winners get byes. 1-12 only matters becuase they get in. Outside of that you can be 1 or 12. It doesn't promise you a first round bye.

We have a whole bunch of Negative Nancies on this board.

#1, Vols have a great shot to win this weekend no matter who plays QB.

#2, Vols most likely get into playoff even with two losses. All of you act like no other team is going to
lose more games. I would bet the farm that there are multiple upsets. There always are because it is very hard to win conference games in November, especially conference games on the road.

I don't know about that. They're setting them up to still make it even with a loss given how high they are right now. Indiana would need to get blown out to fall out of the top 12. I think this committee is determined to get 4 Big 10 teams in and to screw the SEC with only 3 spots. Greg Sankey should not have allowed so much Big 10 representation on this committee.

The SEC will get 4 spots. The Big Ten will get 4 spots. You’re forgetting the auto bid for the SEC.

The issue is they clearly don’t want 5 SEC schools. And because for some god forsaken reason Notre Dame gets to be treated like a P4 school and not a G5 like they should be and we are gonna get screwed

We may get in but this shiz is blatantly corrupt. Money has taken over the sport. Just a travesty.PS don’t ever let them sell you that head to head doesn’t matter. Why do we play the games in that case? Just forfeit the big games and claim to be focusing on “winning the other big ones” in that case.
