'24 Vols Transfer Offers

The only thing I can think of is "fit". Not saying Harris is a problem, but I think this staff really looks beyond measurables and star ratings. Really think they want high quality/character types who will....don't shoot me...add to the culture. Plus Banks and McMurray know each other well so it's probably a comfort thing, too.
I think the writing is on the wall for Harris. Kentucky has seeming moved on after both UT and Auburn seem to have moved on. Two of those teams were rumored to be the favorite to land him. Something is going on and I don't think its talent.

Pretty clear that a lot of these kids are focused on money. He and/or his handlers/family might be looking for a big payday?

Bru is a nice possession receiver, but he’s not a deep threat speedster. I highly doubt he’s a first rounder as well. He’s a very good and reliable college player that will help Nico. He’s coming off an injury.

Thornton is still an unknown and we’re hoping the light goes on for him. He’s coming off an injury.

White is also a nice SEC player but he’s not elite. He has a place in this offense but we still need a deep threat speedster to get the most out of this offense.

Maybe Matthews or Staley can contribute early but our staff has shown that they do not like to play freshmen. Maybe that will change in 2024.

I do expect that Nico will elevate the play of all our WRs. So if Thornton still doesn’t put it together he’ll get benched imo.
optimism for Thorton as he returns to a more natural position outside, and adding Brazzell outside helps as well. frees up where you use guys like Bru, Matthews and White in the slot, and Bru can play inside or out. i'm betting Matthews can play inside or out as well, but i'd assume he'd start off in the slot? throw in some production from the TE, Sampson out of the backfield....

and we're not even accounting for any potential development from guys like leacock, nimrod or webb.

i mean there's potential it'd be like playing a video game for the QB....lol.

Yeah, he’s a 3rd or 4th round talent if he stays healthy and produces next year. He’s a great all-around college player and happy to have him though. I think the hope of our staff is that Brazzell is the real deal and can be that #1 guy for us, which would allow Bru to be more of a Swiss Army knife to plug and play where we need him.
No if Bru is healthy and we throw him the ball, his ceiling is 1st round. I doubt he will be, but as of now you can't put one guy on him. You have to roll coverage on him and center a big part of your defensive plan around him.

No WR can out block him or truck stick him. He can catch it in traffic, he's not a burner, but he's fast enough to get open. He's had his fair share of deep TD catches.

He can do what Tillman did only he's more talented.

But yes, his issue has been health wise his whole career here. He was out of shape and banged up last year, this year he was healthy and we had our issues on offense that were out of his control.

Next year, if our o-line gives Nico plenty of time, Brazzell, Squirrel and Thornton etc, prove formidable, then Bru will be unstoppable.

Thornton, Brazzell, Matthews and Squirrel are all speedsters..

Squirrel is a "nice" slot receiver that had 802 yards as a sophomore, when the majority of the time he was the only guy the defense had to worry about.

We saw Squirrel burn defenses multiple times his freshman year, but yeah let's forget that happened. Losing Bru and Keyton sucking really hurt him.

We brought Thornton here to burn guys deep and that's what he was starting to do when he got hurt. That big catch against Florida was nice too.

The more I watch Brazzell the less I feel worried about him. We just need guys to stay healthy and for our o-line to pass block. Our guys will be open. Not to forget Steas could put more pressure on defenses than Castles and Warren did. Certainly has the ability to.

Disagree with most of this. Thorton showed he was getting it before his injury. You can say he didn’t show you anything but he did flash ability. The staff screwed up with him by putting him in the slot. Once he moved outside he started playing better.

You use conjecture way too much here. You don’t know if DCs fear Squirrell or not. Bru can absolutely challenge people deep. You are a very negative poster most of the time. I get it. But this post is ridiculous. The fact that @LittleVol (one of the biggest trolls) liked it says a lot.
I'm a real person on the other side of the computer.

Yet all you do is talk trash to me.

Do you want to do something about that?
Because otherwise get a life.

I hope the coaches are able to mostly nail down the depth chart this Spring. Bru and Thornton probably aren’t practicing but we need to know what we have with the rest.

In my mind, there should be a sense of urgency about preparing for the 2024-25 seasons. We are going to have a window of opportunity over the next two seasons with Nico and I don’t want to squander it by just waiting and hoping some guys develop. Time to be aggressive and take that next step.

That's total BS. Tell me which teams have ever rolled coverage to Bru. I like him as a player, but I think his absolute ceiling is 3rd round, and I doubt he'll even go that high. Nobody is gearing their defensive game plan around stopping Bru.

This should give Brazzell and our young WRs lots of reps to learn the offense this spring.

I think Thornton will practice. It was a high ankle sprain I think. So he should be totally fine by then.

I definitely think we are going all in for 2024. We will prolly be more portal all in for 2025.

Other than getting a stud LG, we have addressed every other issue going into this offseason.

If Mincey leaves then we gotta get a RT, but otherwise I think we are in great shape.

Bringing Bru back is HUGE. Getting Brazzell was big. Adding them to Squirrel, Thornton, Nimrod, Webb, Leacock, Staley and Matthews gives us plenty of depth, experience and talent to work with.

Staes at TE.

Jermod McCoy and Jakobe Thomas bring a lot to the secondary. A younger much more talented secondary.

Our d-line looks ridiculously deep. Super old mixed with experienced really talented guys.

Pili coming back to be with all those young LB's that got a ton of experience.

Looks like we aren't done in the portal either. Idk but, our roster is looking pretty stacked to me.

Lol, okay.

You can't play off of him, because we'll zip it to him and he'll run you over. You can't play press man on him. You can't out muscle him for a jump ball. One guy can't tackle him. He has enough burst to get a step on somebody and burn them deep like Tillman did.

He's a matchup nightmare.

If you don't take my word for it, just ask any VFL that knows more football than anyone on here.

Literally heard Heath Shuler and Erik Ainge talk about it a few weeks ago. I've heard Swain talk about it. Etc. But I guess they're all wrong because you'll refuse to be wrong.

Bru averages about 50 yards per game receiving. So far in his career, he has been a solid #3 wide receiver. Nobody is designing a game plan around stopping him. This discussion reminds me of the Moneyball quote, "If he's a good hitter, why doesn't he hit good?" Bru is a solid wide receiver that blocks well and provides leadership. He isn't a special wide receiver.

Heard it we are kicking the tires on a few,

Keyton's year was hard to understand, his drops and then at least 2x he slowed or stopped when the ball came his way. Just didn't seem at sharp this year as last year.
